Fuse Blowing up in my hand!

Alright, i just tried installing a 800w amp for my 2, 10" subs and the 25a fuse blows up just about in my hand as i put it in the amp. I am getting good power supply and ground and remote. I have tried taking off the remote and subs and with just power and ground the fuse still blows. am i right the amp shouldnt even be turning on unless its getting voltage through the remote wire.

The amp is brand new... the only thing i didnt try was unhooking the level output controller would that have made a difference? I cant even get the fuse to stay in there with power and ground connected. Does this mean i have a short in the amp? And if so is there anyone that would know where it could be shorted so i dont have to trouble shoot all day and fix it myself without have to return it to wait for 2-6 weeks to come back?

Some amps have remote turn on from line level speaker inputs, but that would be when the headunit is powered on only also.

You must have a wiring issue somewhere...like the power wire is frayed or cut and maybe grounding out.

If it's the fuse that plugs into the amp, you may have a bad amp. External wiring shouldn't have anything to do with it blowing. It's probably a bad part on the amp's board that is drawing too much current or shorting out. There is not really an easy way to find it unless you know a lot about the workings of the amp. I'd suggest just exchanging it because if you open it and can't fix it, you'll void the warranty.

    stupid amp

get this, i opened the amp up to see anything obviously wrong and found out the ground was shorting out on the fuse... but then it went away... its working now... but since i bridged it the protection thing comes on when i turn it up too loud.. i have a 2 channel sooundstorm fp800 ... 800 watts. Anyone heard of this brand i pretty dissapointed with it i think i also have a bad ground but...anyone know this brand or is it like a expensive walmart brand?

if the protection comes on when you turn it up too loud you need a better amplifier.

soundstorm? expensive walmart brand? your'e kidding right? I'd be willing to put my life savings on the fact that that amplifier isn't putting out NEAR 800 watts....EVER.

Do yourself a favor and save up some money and buy something at least half way decent.

First off, when installing the amp I hope you battery is disconnected, your never supposed to add something to your electrical setup while the battery is connected. Your lucky only the fuse blew. If your hooking up the amp and then connecting the battery and its blowing, then you have a bad amp, or like john05srt4 said, it could be a wiring issue. When I first installed my amp, i had so much engine noise. Turns out I ran the power cable to close to the original car wiring. I drive a truck so I simply ran it under the car, that got rid of any issues...... Also make sure your ground run is not long... it should only be 3 feet in length for a good solid ground. Try to use a ground point that the car manufactuer made, that way you are insured that it is good.

well it seems to be working good now... i had to pull my rcas out of my subwoofer one and put it in the left and right rear speaker and control it from my equalizer. Counldnt believe that my HU didnt have a Sub-W control...thats why it sounded like crap.. oh and i originally bought a lanzar amp but the dip from the place i ordered didnt have one in stock and said he "upgraded" me. haha.

anyways guys i guess everything here is good and thx for your inputs.

Yes soundstorm is sht. If it only has oen 25 amp fuse at best it's making 250 rms.

Also it's probably goign into protect because it's either clipping (in which case adjust the gains), or it's thermaling because of being loaded down to much.
