A few Questions on possible Setup

    Hey guys.

I am doing some research on a possible CarPC setup, and what was after your thoughts and opinions.

I am not to sure on what motherboard i will be running yet. Because from what i have been reading, i will need something around 1.5ghz? Any suggestions on a mini-itx?

In the car i will be running splits in the 85WRMS 6.5" Spilts, and in the rear I will be running a less powerful set of splits, just not to sure on what ones yet. Both of these running off a 4x100WRMS amp. I will also be running a 800WRMS mono with a sub.

Now, i would be using an external soundcard. What are your thoughts on the 'Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-Bit External'? This had the 3 outputs right? Front, Rear, Centre/Sub? How do you choose to either have it as the centre or the sub? The outputs are 3.5mm, correct? And have it a 3.5 to 2RCA cord connecting to the amps. I thought by using these cords would lose quality?

I am after a good SQ system, but nothing competition worthy.

    Cheers

If you intend on doing audio processing in the PC itself, I recommend going with a faster, more powerful CPU.
Also, it's not as simple as the clock speed.

The 1.5Ghz Via processor is nowhere near as "fast" as an equivilant P4 or AthlonXP CPU. Hell, the newer Core2Duo CPUs are 1.6Ghz, but are far more efficient in the way they handle computations.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

But if i was after a mini itx board, what would you recommend?

I don't recommend PC hardware for two reasons that work in conjunction:
1: If I recommend a motherboard and it doesn't work well for you, then it falls back on me, as I recommended it.
2: I'm an IT professional. As such, I get paid for my recommendations. My customers know that if my recommendations don't work out for them, I will make it right, since that's what they're paying me for.

You're not paying me. So no recommendations of motherboards for you or for anyone else. No offense.

However, there are a number of sources for miniITX boards. I'd peruse some online vendors (mp3car.com store, Logic supply, NewEgg, etc.)
Make notes about features and CPU compatibility and use those to help make a decision.

    No offence taken.

Just to build off of Darque
Also part of this hobby is learning about your system, as with any hobby part of the reward is to beable to fix something when its broken, you dont learn alot about anything if its given away. Sorry for the off topic post and not meaning any thing to the OP just making a statement for whoever is reading.
