THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. I WILL WRITE IN CAPS TO ANSWER YOU QUESTIONS.

Are you sure the mute-lead of the parrot is connected to the right pin of the HU?
YES. ALSO ABOVE IS A LINK TO OUR CARS WIRE DIAGRAM.

The mute is pulled down to ground if the parrot wants to mute the radio.
I AM A LITTLE CONFUSE HERE, BUT THESE ARE THE VOLTAGE READS I MADE.
THE MK6000 (YELLOW MUTE CABLE) READS 0 VOLTS WHILE NOT TRANSMITING AND AROUND 12 VOLTS WHILE IN USE.
THE SYMPHONY II RADIO READS 5 VOLTS WHILE NOT IN PHONE MODE.
WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE PARROT MUTES THE RADIO FINE.
WHEN THE CAR IS OFF THE RADIO GOES/STAYS IN PHONE MODE.

The red wire with fuse needs to be the permanent power, the orange one switched.
RED WAS CONNECTED TO POSITIVE IN RADIO (WHICH READ 12 VOLTS ALWAYS).
ORANGE I TRY THE FUSE BOX AND THE PIN NEXT TO COM.
ALSO I TRY SWITCHING CABLE CONNECTIONS FOR ORANGE-RED

Also check if the black wire gets good ground, if not the unit can search ground through other wires and connected devices.
BLACK WAS CONNECTED TO THE CAR GROUND. I RUN A CABLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE CONSOLE. (I DON'T LIKE JUST GETTING A SCREW).

Do I understand correctly that the sound over the speakers -problem has been solved?
AFTER I FOUND THIS, I HAVEN'T GO FOR THE SOUND STEP. BUT ACCORDING TO AUTO-TOYS IT SHOULD WORK (STEREO WIRE OUT, TO RCA CONVERTER, HI-LO, AUX CONNECTION)

Perhaps a small relay switched bij the parrots mutecable and connecting ground to the mute-pin of the HU can solve your current problem.
WHAT IS A BIJ? I AM STARTING TO LEARN ABOUT RELAYS. ANY GOOD LINK? I UNDERSTAND THE BASIC IDEA, BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT SHOULD I NEED.

(coil of relay one side to power 12 V, the other side to the mute cable of the parrot; The connections of the switch one to ground, the other to the mute-pin of the HU)
I GUESS THIS IS RELATED TO THE RELAY; ALSO I TRY CONNECTING THE PARROT MUTE WIRE, RADIO MUTE PIN, AND ALARM GROUND TOGETHER. MY HOPE WAS THE ALARM GROUND WILL BE STRONGER AND THE 5 VOLTS FROM THE MUT WONT RUN TO THE PARROT, BUT SEEMS I WAS MISTAKEN.

If nothing else works, you can try (first check at the Audi-servicepoint if it won't hurt the HU) to use a pull-up resistor. This is a relative high-ohm resistor you connect between 12V powerline and the mute, if the mute is not switched by the parrot, there will be a 12 volt signal to the mute lead, making sure the HU does not think there is a call in process.

    This ever get solved?

I have a Parrot MK6000 that I'm trying to put into a 2002 Passat W8 and I am having the exact same issue! The Mute seems to keep the radio in 'Phone' mode even though the Parrot is 'off' (It shuts down like it's supposed to).

    Thanks!

Hey hyperplus, take a look at the link below, it should help with the wiring. Posst up if you have any questions after.

ok i didnt read all that was posted cuz i got lazy but this is what i would do.

tap into the front spakers AFTER the amp. you can go to the kick panels to do this and clip the wires and run the ins and outs up to the parrot and use those as the ins and outs for the parrot. as for the rest of the speakers if you cant find the mute wire you can use one of the rear channels on the parrot to interrupt the ignition power lead at the stereo. so when you recieve a call the stereo will just turn off and the parrot will play through the front speakers. you cannot have the parrot play through the rears as well as the fronts. it would just mess up the whole system.

so just remember the front speakers have to be hooked up after the amp and the rears just serve as cut offs to cut the sound

I have a 1999 Saab 9-3 with the exact same problem posted by hyperplus. It looks like there might be some miscommunication above, so i'll try to clarify:

Both my Saab and hyperplus' Audi have telephone mute input for the head unit (HU). In both cases, this pin at the HU floats around 4.5V when normal audio is playing, and then mutes when something pulls that pin down to ground (0V). The problem seems to be that when the ignition is turned on and the MK6000 is on, it keeps that pin (a yellow wire) from being pulled down (i.e. keeps from muting the HU) unless a call is in progress , yet when the ignition is turned off, the MK6000 lets that pin pull down to ground.

I am guessing that in most cars, this does nothing because with the power off, the HU can't come on even. But in my car, the HU is wired to be able to come on if the Tel Mute pin is pulled to ground - even with the ignition off! The idea is that a phone call could be in progress even when you're sitting in a parking lot or whatever and don't want the engine running. So the desired behavior of the MK6000 is to ONLY pull the yellow Tel Mute wire low when a call is in progress (or bluetooth audio is goin on) regardless of the ignition state (on or off).

For the record, I use to have a Sony-Ericsson bluetooth kit that worked properly. Somehow, the HU would stay on during a phone call after the ignition had gone off, but only until you opened the door! doing that caused the dome light to come on and the HU to go off completely. Perhaps that's a clue to how to get this to work.

An additional solution I can think of for those in this situation is to put in a relay for the tell mute signal. hook the coil of the relay up to the ignition wire and ground so that ONLY when the igition is on, the relay is active. then, put the yellow wire through the relay so it can only pull the signal low to ground when the ignition is on. This way, once the igintion is off, there's now way it can pull the mute pin on the HU low since the relay will be off!

I'll call parrot tech support tomorrow and see if they have any insight. I'll post what I find!

    Anyone else have any clues?

here's what i found: the rep said that the mute wire is problematic, and because it gets set to ground whenever the relay loses power (i.e. when ignition is off) then no firmware upgrade will fix this. so for people in my shoes, the best bet is not to use the mute wire, but rather use the speakerbypass wires that came with it. in my case, they plugged right into my HU no problem!

There are 2 costs to this solution:
    1. The display on my HU saying "Telephone" when a call is in progress.
    2. I can't control bass/treble/fade/balance with HU controls since now they're bypassed for streaming audio! (they still affect radio/CD/etc)

However, there are 2 big gains to be considered:
    1. Ease of installaiont - one less wire to hook up! (no more mute wire)
    2. Streaming audio no clearer and in stereo!
    3. system response to call more instantaneous - my car's system took about 2 seconds from when the mute signal went low to when i could hear anything.
    4. when a call comes in, there's no need to change the fader to only use front speakers and turn bass down. The parrot MK6000 only passes audio to front speakers and has EQ mix set well for the human voice!

    Hope this helps!
