Help Connecting - Parrot MK 6000 to Audi A4 04 (BOSE)

    Please anyone, I am getting desparete in this subject and already broke the CD changer playing with the radio connections. {** Never leave CDs inside the Symphony II before unplugging it.}

Short story: (not so short after all)
I have an Audi A4 04 Symphony II (BOSE) and my goal is to integrate the Parrot MK 6000 to the head unit so I can get sound through ALL the speakers (to take advantage of A2DP).

Now the question is, how can this be done? I have google, mp3car, and many other forumns for this answer and even call some professionals on this and they say there is not something that could get this done.

I understand the difficulties with the Audi's BOSE system, but I can't believe this is undoable.

My current state. I tap into the (+) signals of line out in the HU, and connect the (-) lines to the common ground. That's when I learn about level output among other problems with this configuration where I can get only sound in the front speakers.

Please any help let me know.

    Thanks in Advance

** Another option could be changing the HU for an aftermarket one which fit the BOSE amp and speakers nicely. Still requierment will be having bluetooth to play a2dp and receive calls. Doesn't need navigation, but any recommendations are welcome. I just want to get over this.

A lot of the Audi HU's in europe ("concert" etc) have a input for telephone. (tel+ and tel-)

I don't know if the parrot also has a line out, perhaps you could connect that to the tel in of the HU?

    perhaps this might help:

the parrot should have an adapter harness that you can buy and just plug in to the existing harness. The wiring diagram on parrot's site shows an iso adapter.

When I installed my mk6000 in my truck I just used the iso cable that connected directly to the factory head unit.

The standard harness is only for "standard"radio's, the Bose system does not have speaker chanel, instead it has line-out, IF the parrot works with the standard harness (with adaptercable) it will not service every speaker. Probably it will not even mute every speaker (this can be solved by connecting the mute-cable to the mute-terminal of the HU)

T4Roger you are in the right line of thought.

The problem is that I want A2DP from the Parrot MK6000 to work through the radio. The only way I see this possible is to connect the parrot to AUX channel in the Symphony II using Speaker Wire to RCA (note you need something like Blitzsafe, CarAUX, among others). But even with that idea I will still be counting in my adapter to transform the parrots signal to the correct power before entering the HU.

After further research I am thinking of replacing the HU. Easier / not that cheap / but since I broke the cd changer it might be a good idea.

    Doable or Not? MK6000 - Symphony II/II+ & BOSE

Please let me know your thoughts if this will work or what else should I get.

My goal is to get BOSE amplified sound through all the speakers using the Parrot MK6000 with the Symphony II or II+ head unit.

I think this could be done using a connector like BlitzSafe, CarAux, etc. to send the signal as AUX. In such a case I guess I need a Speaker Wire to RCA connector for the parrot kit. Do I need a Hi-Lo converter as well for the Parrot?

The other questions I have are:
the Symphony II and II+ have the same connector at the back?
the Symphony II+ will not be able to use the phone through all speakers neither?
going the AUX route is it possible to connect the Parrt (left/right+front/rear) wires to the AUX, will this be better than just sending Stereo signal?

    Thanks

I thought I will have a result by this week, but I found another problem. If anyone knows what to try let me know, but I really think I am out of luck.

My current problem is the radio stays ON in Phone mode even after shutting down the car.

So I try connecting my Parrot MK6000 to the Symphony II (BOSE) radio and I notice the radio stays in “Phone” mode even when I shut down the car. This is a problem because it will drain my battery. I think is due to the Mute pin in the radio is reading 5 volts. Probably that is powering the Parrot.

Also when the car electrical is ON, the parrot works OK. And I try switching the red line with the orange line, but no luck.

Please any help will be appreciated.

Are you sure the mute-lead of the parrot is connected to the right pin of the HU?

The mute is pulled down to ground if the parrot wants to mute the radio.

The red wire with fuse needs to be the permanent power, the orange one switched.

Also check if the black wire gets good ground, if not the unit can search ground through other wires and connected devices.

Do I understand correctly that the sound over the speakers -problem has been solved?

Perhaps a small relay switched bij the parrots mutecable and connecting ground to the mute-pin of the HU can solve your current problem.

(coil of relay one side to power 12 V, the other side to the mute cable of the parrot; The connections of the switch one to ground, the other to the mute-pin of the HU)

If nothing else works, you can try (first check at the Audi-servicepoint if it won't hurt the HU) to use a pull-up resistor. This is a relative high-ohm resistor you connect between 12V powerline and the mute, if the mute is not switched by the parrot, there will be a 12 volt signal to the mute lead, making sure the HU does not think there is a call in process.
