    Adding a subwoofer

I am planning to add a subwoofer in the boot, and I saw allot of Alpine deals on ebay.
The one that I am after is this

    SWX-1243D SPECIFICATIONS
12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
Pulp/fiber cone reinforced with Kevlar and a layer of Rohacell plastic film
    Santoprene rubber surround
    Cast aluminum frame
Power range: 500-1,000 watts RMS (500 watts per coil)
    Peak power handling: 3,000 watts
    Frequency response: 24-200 Hz
    Sensitivity: 84 dB
    Top-mount depth: 8-5/8"
Sealed box volume: 0.65-1.25 cubic feet
Ported box volume: 1.0-2.0 cubic feet

    PDX-1.1000 SPECIFICATIONS
Mono-block PDX Series high output amplifier
    Digital Power Supply
    1000 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms (This is one of the only mono amps we have seen that is stable at 4 and 2 ohms, this will give you lots of wiring options and will be compatible with any sub or subs)
    LCD Status display
Connects to compatible Alpine head units
    Built-in low pass crossover
    MOSFET Power Supply
Current, Short, Overload, and Overheat Protection
    Quick Connection Speaker Terminals
    Dimensions: 7.71" L x 10.08" W x 2.45" H
    Fuse Rating 30A x 4
    High efficiency Design
    4 Layered PC Board
    Speaker level input
    Front Panel Easy-Access Controls

What do you think guys do some one have any of these subs or amplifier?
or I can go for any other model that can handle better?
I think Alpine are good for subs and amplifier.

Some of my friend suggest me Kicker but I already have Alpine and I would like to stay with the same brand.

This forum is dedicated to CarPCs and installing them in your car.

The car audio forum is dedicated to integrating your car audio system with your CarPC.

For specific questions related to car audio equipment systems that do not include CarPCs, I would recomend checking out car audio specific forums:

    http://www.elitecaraudio.com
    http://www.carsound.com
    http://www.caraudioforum.com
    http://forum.sounddomain.com
    http://www.realcaraudio.com
    http://www.carstereo.com
    http://www.caraudiomag.com
    http://www.termpro.com
    http://www.the12volt.com
    http://www.talkaudio.co.uk
    http://www.caraudiosecurity.com
    et. al.

There is a chance that someone on here might have an answer for you, I would just hate for you to wait around for it when I know you could get an answer much quicker on a dedicated forum.

    Good luck.

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Hey, you're in luck. I have that exact combo (Alpine 12" Type X SWR-1243D sub + Alpine PDX-1.1000 amp)

They work great and this is a route you want to go if you care more about sound quality than SPL/loudness/waking-the-neighbors. It sounds great, shakes everything decently, but does not create excessive neighbor-waking bass notes. If that's what you want, check out the Kicker subs or JL W7 subs. Then again, I also have a sealed enclosure - it might be a different story with a properly sized and ported enclosure.

The amp is great and is underrated - it can put out more like 1150 watts rms without clipping. It's also very, very small for the amount of power it puts out.

lol... what bs. i don't think i've seen any mono car amps that aren't stable at 2 or 4 ohms.

I think they just worded that incorrectly. What is great about these amps is that they have the SAME rms output at both 2 ohms or 4 ohms (1000 watts RMS at either impedance). I think that is what they mean to point out. Most (or maybe all) other amps output a certain amount of power at 2 ohms, but then output significantly less power at 4 ohms.

So you can wire your DVC sub as 4 ohms without worrying about not maximizing the capability of the amp.

I've always found it handy to look at the frequency responce graph. sure it might be able to go down to 25hz, but how sensitive is it at that pont? 30db? 98db??

I highly doubt it will be at all efficient at the 25hz range, more liek 40hz. I woun;dnt be able to recommend a car audio sub to you, because i use sub woofers from B&C =( Neodimium is lighter and i save soem gas XD
