Why not run the CD player to the audio input of the PC?
hi,
have had a casputer system for some time now, but my lcd touchscreen started to flicker and smell burned one day, so i ame going to change it.
Now im thinking of buying a indash touchscreen with a DVD player, so i wonder if i can use 2 audio soruces. What will happen i i connect it like this? will in shortcircut?

bad things could happen, you would need a 'mixer' or switcher if you wanted to hook it up like that.
mixer if you wanted to have two audio sources at once playing through the amp (for instance gps from the computer and music from the head unit)
switcher if you wanted to play either one or the other, but you could just use the aux input in the head unit if you were going to hook it up that way

while it might work, if both were powered on at the same time it might not, you would also be glared at by the people who do it right society.
does your cd player have its own volume control?
how did you adjust the volume previously?
one option is to invest in a small mixer or something that has several inputs and a volume to the amp.
as said above using the input of the carpc might be the easiest way.
only issues i see with that is a potential small delay while the signal is processed thru the computer. so dvd's might look slightly out of sync.
