my 6x9 cut out at high volumes

when i turn my bass up(no subs, but there is an amp connection just in case i get subs again) the 6x9 cuts out every time i turn the volume up and the beat knocks with a lot of bass. this didn't start happening until the amp got hooked up.. whats the problem? do i need new 6x9's or a new head unit(stock)

It's the amp it's going into protection thus it cuts out.

Either the amp cannot handle the load or it's tuned incorrectly.

the ap is the problem..... the internal amp of your radio that is. Your radio isn't able to handle the load probably, or you're pushing it to hard.

Try reducing the bass of the rear 6x9's and see if it cuts out at high levels.

won't help. basically all HU's put out about the same average power. So you'll just get the same problem with the next on, and the next one, and the one after that, and so on and so on. As audiology said, try reducing the bass. If it still cuts out when the bass is at a fair level, you might have an weak/instable powersupply (piece of advise, don't by sony or any craptastic fleamarket brand, cause they all have instable powersupplies!).

Just curious what brand/model of 6x9's?

What vehicle is this in too? Did this vehicle have a premium factory sound (outboard amp)?
