Same Problem... Any help?
Here is my problem, I have installed my carpc and it works great. I have a 120 gig external hard drive that runs off of usb power. In this hd I have all my mp3's, videos, and pics. I am using RR with digitalfx 3.0. Everything works like it suppose to without any kind of problems.
Now, I hooked up my sirius sat radio adapter (see link) http://www.rush2112.net/mkportal/mod...products_id=35
the way I have this setup is, positive connected to the IGN of the power supply, negitive to a direct ground. USB from the adapter to the pc and the audio output from the adapter to the MIC IN on the sound card.
When I turn the engine on, I have a loud hum that gets louder as the engine goes faster. Here is the catcher, when I unplug the AUDIO OUTPUT from the sat adapter the hum goes completely away!
I can even listen to my MP3's and or video's at any volume driving at any speed and I have no Hum!
My question is, should I think about grounding the sound card it's self? Or is there another way to get rid of this hum while using my Sirius Sat Radio adapter?
Oh and by the way the sat radio works perfect both with the engine on or off! Just has this hum when it's on.
I am using creative labs Audigy2z see link: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN So it's not the intergrated sound card.
Please help if you can.
Same Problem... Any help?
If I unplug the SCC1 tuner from the mjs adapter the whine goes away. So this leads me to believe their is an issue with the tuner?
radio and the mjs is the soundcard.
If you have multiple devices grounded in different places, each of those devices will work fine if they are not connected. When you connect those devices, you create a ground loop. Disconnecting the device that has a different ground would fix this problem.
In your situation, when you unplug the "SCC1 tuner" you are disconnecting the device with a different ground. You need all of your devices to be grounded to the same location.
edit: after figuring out what those devices actually are, It seems like your tuner is not grounded properly.
How come you're using the MIC IN to feed the Sat Radio audio?
Have you tried using the same ground from the SC-C1 to the soundcard? Try grounding the ground from the audio outputs off the SC-C1 see if that helps.
I am not using the mic in - someone else was. I am using line level or line in. I will check my grounds and post back l8r.
what connection are using for audio from the tuner? if its an 1/8" out, try using headphones to see if you can still hear the noise. If so, the problem might be internal to the tuner.
