Thread: Big audio

I do have a very large vehicle with lots of room inside for the front and rear passengers. I kinda don't want to divulge what I have cause from what I've read through in the forums and such it hasn't been done in what I've got (to my knowledge). So I'd like to make it a mystery. eric_barcus, I may pm you and let you know though consideriing you're the only one that says that it's do able so far. I am looking for 5.1 + sound to be happening and I'm not just going for loud I'm going for all around loud and clarity. If I just wanted loud then I'd get a regular stereo and throw a bunch of **** on it. I'm not a novice to speakers just to a computer in a car hooked up with regualr speakers. If it's as easy as getting a good carputer hooking up a external sound card then running the 3 different out puts to a corresponding amp (or to eq first then amps) then from amps to speakers. Like magic sound comes out! I'm just not sure how I should have it wired "correctly". Like the subs, there would be 2 sets. There's only one output for subs and center from the sound card. Do I run that output to the first sub amp then (if there's a relay pre amp out) run to the next set? How would I get the center to tie into that too? Would I just run it from the same connection as the sub just have a bass blocker / freq blocker/regulator in line to it to keep it from blowing my speaker out? I don't think that'd be the case but those are the things I'll need to know.

I was looking at some of the newer Creative sound cards last night and wanted to get some input on what people think is a great card to use. Well that's all I've got for now. I'd ask about video too but I'll leave that for the video forum. Thanks!

O your dream can come true, but any of the audiophile diehards will tell you its not ideal, but I am all for the "too each their own" policy!

I just posted a thread for an awesome way to link a PC to car audio that works great even for people who aren't super-saavy with computer sound, programs, etc..

O and you would hook it up like a head unit, possibly splitting its signal to go to multiple amps or even better, daisy chaining the amps together if they have a pass thru. Most do. Good luck man!

i didn't think anyone said it's not doable, but just having all those speakers probably isn't the best way to go. When you have multiple drivers playing the same signal from different locations you'll get weird lobing and cancellations to name a couple issues. If you want 5.1 then stick with that. 3 front, 2 surround and a sub (or two).

i'm wondering if the h701 wouldn't be the way to go for this application?

How about this? Wouldn't need an eq or sound processor this way would I? The only real problem I see is that I'd need to split the sub line for the 2 amps. Might need something to clean that line freq up. Mabye run some sheilded wire instead of regualr stuff. I figured some quality wires might eleviate some noise production. I'd be sound proffing the interior as best I could also.

get componet speakers that way you can bridge your 4ch amp and use the crossovers in the componet speakers

I would lose the rear speakers. No point having them.

By mids I ment some component mids. Guess I should have put that in there. I want the backs so that there will be sufficient sound to the people in the back. Not just bass and a little noise from the front. That'd be dumb. There's rear speakers in regular cars why wouldn't I have some?
