My issue I had with soundcards equipped with the mini headphone jacks and using ALL the analog outs was two problems related to connectors. It did not impact "SQ" per say but more of a functional problem.

    1) Decent (meaning not flimsy) did not all fit properly when trying to plug them in. I had the $20 monster cable ones, but when trying 4 pairs of them in soundcard at the sametime, on a few of the cables the plug actually bent-plus it caused a lot of strain on the connectors attached to the circuit board. Even trying to find cheapo cables with a thinner headphone jack was near impossible.

    2) Trying to secure them so they stayed plugged in all time. With them all wedged and squeezed together, it was hard to keep them connected snuggly.

Lucky for me, my new soundcard had a din cable with all the jacks hanging separately off the card (dongle cable). Although, the original "dongle" cable had problems, I was able to make a new one with my own connector, cable and RCA plugs.

The 1010LT is great card that will let you do audio processing on a PC AND it has RCA connectors. That is a win win situation. There are plenty of options to go with that will range from $200- thousands of dollars-but you need to look at "PRO" type cards-regular consumer cards will give you trouble getting it work if it does not have the proper "software AND hardware routing".

Audiotrak prodigy hifi is another card that is proven to work with all the processing plugins.

Which ones of these can you get in Brazil, I don't know. For the plugin processing, I have tried to compile a list of cards that are "known to work" or someone has used it in that application. If you steer off that list, then you are working in uncharted territory. That list is in the link I provided earlier.

Define the features you need/require, and then go shopping to see if it meets your goals. Most decent namebrand soundcards are pretty damn amazing when it comes to accurate signal reproduction.

I hope this all makes sense to you.

    Durwood,

I coudln't ask for a better answer. Thank you so much. Really.

I am trying to do everything under U$1000.

I can find any soundcard around here basically.

Do you think the 1010LT would have same/better "SQ" compared to the DRZ?

Also do you have any suggestions for the rest of the system I posted?

    Thanks a lot mate!

    Case: VoomPC-2 Enclosure - u$90
    Power Supply: M2-ATX-HV 160w - U$90
    MoBo Mini ITX: JetWay J7F2WE2G-OC-PB - U$230
    Memory: G.SKILL Extreme 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 - u$20
    HD: Western Digital Scorpio WD1600BEVSRTL 160GB 5400 RPM SATA 1.5Gb/s - U$70
    SoundCard: M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI - U$170

    Display: Xenarc 700TSV - U$350

Electronic specs (such as S/N) are lower than the DRZ. Will you notice it? In the car many other things to worry to worry about. If you are worried about it, look at the difference between the 1010LT and the 1010 with the 19" rackmount breakout box. There is a price to pay-is it worth it? I don't know, I'm not you.

That case does not allow for a PCI card if I recall. I don;t see a processor in that list unless it comes with your mobo. I prefer to use microATX mobo, even though it is larger, it is also cheaper. This however means a custom case or a larger than desired off-the-shelf case. AMD low power chips seem to be very cheap these days-even the dual core ones. The 45W versions should work fine with the M2-ATX (12V rail current ratings).

    Just my thoughts.

    Durwood,

Once again you have been very helpful.

That Mobo I listed comes with a 2GHz processor.

I did some research on the MicroATX boards.

This is what I come up with:

    JetWay JM26GT3-SVP AM2 NVIDIA NF6100-405 - $40
    AMD Athlon X2 4050e 2.1GHz Socket AM2 45W - $70

What do you think? Would recommend something better for that price?

Will that be enough processing power to do everything I need?

    Thx mate!

    Memory: PQI POWER Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - $37
    HD: Western Digital Scorpio WD1600BEVSRTL 160GB 5400 RPM SATA 1.5Gb/s - $70

I have been told guys that it is really hard to get the same SQ I would get from a Headunit in a CARPuter.

The person said it is because I would have a higher noise floor, since the soundcard would be so close to the harddrive.

Also, the 1010LT for example has a low voltage out. Would I need a Line Driver?

    Thank you so much!

I am looking at power supply and the M4-ATX seem like a better option. For only U$25 I get 90w more. What do you guys think? Do I need it? Is there any drawbacks using the M4 instead of M2? Thx a lot!

I found a new option for my screen, and it is like half the price.

What do you guys think? Any drawbacks? I have been reading some reviews and seem like an amazing option. I will do some measurements to see if I can make it fit in my dash!

Trying to find the external measurements of the screen but no luck yet.

Nonono! Someone that has a CARPC actually, from DIYMA forum.

I guess it is just a MYTH then!

Let's hope I can pull it off. Do you think my config seems pretty good so far?

hrmmm - our car has 4 USACi titles to it's name...all from using a CarPC.

Usually those people who tell you that have no clue what they are talking about...

btw - I got in one of those GoodDeals18 monitors and promptly sent it back, it was an utter piece of crap. Again, read on here, there's an entire thread dedicated to those things....including the review I wrote up.
