Is it possible to control the H701 through the computer? I just want good sound and optical out into the H701 then to my amps sounds like the best way to go.

I guess it's possible, afaik the buttons on the C701 is "only" a resistor grid and shouldn't be to hard to control via a PC, but the display is another story I'm curently looking in to how to control the volume from another position, need too hack the cable C701->H701 and insert an extra encoder (like a potentiometer but different), thats all I need for now.

I have converted one of the optical toslink in on the H701 to an coaxial digital (just removed the optical circuit) Both the soundcard and the H701 are using electrical (coaxial) data internaly and by removing the coaxial->optical->coaxial conversions I get better sound. But it looks like the "new" coaxial in don't like dirty spdif like from my epia board, X-fi works fine in bit perfect mode.

Sorry for my bad eng, don't care for spelling right now I'm from Sweden (IKEA)

Dr. L, if you figure out how to add an encoder, please show us how. I've seriously considered the H701 and C701 combo, but I want to use the C701 to control the volume, while I don't have a good place to mount the C701. I would love to be able to mount an encoder somewhere to control just the volume portion of the C701/H701 combo.

I will solve it, soon. Don't now how but I really want to move the volume knob. I'll post the solution when I'm done.
