    Memphis Subs anyone?

Hello all, i've been lurking on these forums for a while now finally decided to join. I have a 97 dakota in which i built a fiberglass/mdf encosure under the rear jump seats with 2 10's. (ill post pics later) The subs i have in the box now were for the mach up. They sound good and all but they are older Jensen KS series i had laying around, powered by a jensen 500 watt 2 channel amp. when i built the box, i neglected to put in a center divider so the 2 subs are in a single airspace. these subs lasted this long (bouta year) so i dont think its a big problem... is it? i have roughly 1.61cubic feet airspace, no polyfil,

now for the questions.. my local installer has Memphis subs in stock for 79 bucks a sub, anyone use them? im lookin for SQ i was leaning towards a pair of JL's or some rockfords but their so common lately, "dare to be different"? open to suggestions

I used to have Memphis Subs, a couple of dual coil M3 12's, for several years up until two Fridays ago when someone stole them out of my car.

They always sounded great and I never had problems blasting them. I haven't seen anyone else with any Memphis equipment around me as they aren't just sold anywhere so mine were definitely different. I'm actually planning on getting me another set of Memphis subs when I get some money now that I have a better security system installed. If they fit your needs, you should definitely get some!

thats exactly why i went with the "stealth" box, out of sight out of mind, i use 3 different type of screws to hold them in, and its impossible to unscrew them while the box is inside the truck.... takes me a good half hour to get it out, if they can get it out and outrun the .44 mag they can have em lol sorry for your loss..

As for the single chamber box, do ya think that'll come back to haunt me?

What I did with my box is made it to the volume specs that were in the subs' manual. I put in the center divider because I didn't want the middle parts of the box to be too flexible and rattle around against other surfaces. I guess it depends on what it's up against and how flexible your material is. I think I used 1/2" MDF. I don't remember exactly.

menphis ftw! the old school menphis where awsome. as long as ur running 2 of the exact same sub in ur box u should be ok. i mean if u end up with 2 different wattage subs in there that when its horrible. because the subs would hit with a different amount of force so the bigger wattage sub would probibly blow the little 1 apart. so if u get subs make sure they are exactly the same. And menphis has some really good spl subs but they are more around 300 to 400 each.
