The Bloat using optical output would totally make useless the majority of its components. What you guys are in search of is a completely different device focusing on optical output rather than digital to analog conversion.. Some DAC's also have optical output but can be much more expensive or of a lot cheaper quality, or both! The Bloat is golden for analog output because that is what it is solely designed for. I have heard of some noise issues with using analog input on the H700 or H701, but I thought I read about a fix (something to do with a ground???) for it somewhere, sometime, probably long ago but I may be wrong on that one. I know its phenominal sounding with my 3sixty.2.

I have a 3sixty.2 you think there is a huge difference between a cheap creative sound blaster live 24 bit pci version into my 3sixty.2 and the bloat to the 3sixty.2 I though the 3sixty.2 would make up for the cheap sound card I use I thought I would be set with either a quality DAC or a quality sound processor not both??

Thats what I thought at first to be honest, but the difference is significant. I originally was going to use onboard sound into the 3sixty.2 hoping it would make up the difference, but theres no way. After much trial and error and after a steep learning curve it really started to make sense to me that A) the best digital processor in the worl won't clear up harware and electrical noise and B) it wont clear up poor signal and especially not add information that is essentially missing. Trust me bro, I used to think the exact same way as you, but then I realized the importance of the signal chain. The 3sixty.2 gives flexibilty and the ability to change the sound (very versatile EQ) but it can only change the soound it is given.. On a side note, I don't know the technical explaination for this but the 3sixty.2 sounds better with stronger input signal. The stronger signal you feed it the better it sounds! I dont know why but I have read that others have found the same thing to be true- 1 guy noting that after adding a line driver it made it sound much better. ??? I dont know why but the Bloat basically has a built in line driver and very high voltage output (4.0volts RMS). It may be because if you feed it weak, noisy signal you have to turn up the gains/levels on the 360 esentially amplifying the noise!

Anyways, long story short, it is much better than other cheaper USB or PCI soundcards (not to mention doing away with software) and strength/clarity early on in the signal chain is key and can't really be made up for by ANY device downstream. I recommend ordering one! lol

    Thnx,
    Joey

Thanks for the info if I wasn't broke from buying the 3sixty.2 maybe I would buy one. I guess I'll just live with it and wait for the next group buy.

Meh, there wont be another GB but maybe I'll swipe up an extra and sell it to you later If you can scrape together the cash by the end you should get one man. I know it stings to spend so much money at once but you are going to be wanting one down the road- especially after so many ppl have these in their hands and start postin some great reviews on it!

PS Bloat+3sixty.2 w/ windows bluetooth software is one of the sickest audio setups imagineable.

I really appreciate your help. You don't have to buy an extra for me, I wouldn't want you to loose money if I decide everything sounds fine once I get it all hooked up and I didn't want it anymore. Probably someday I'll find one on ebay or in the classifieds or I'll just buy it at full price. Anyway it is 1:30 in the morning here and I have to work tomorrow so I am going to sleep.
