    Zune set up?

I bought a Zune while back, and looking to do a small set up in the car with the Zune deck w/remote.

I'm not the greatest and wiring and all, bit the deck end is USB. I know cutting the end off leaves you with 4 wires. Major 2 are black, and red.

The power is a 5v, and i was thinking about splicing it right into the cig lighter that is 12v.

what is a safe way to connect it to the 12v without burning the 5v wire??

advise would be DONT do that.. u'll kill your zune. You need a 5v regulator. Look into the carnetix or opos POL... both are sold thru the mp3car store.

    buy this

    http://store.mp3car.com/Automotive_P..._p/pwr-022.htm

    or this

    http://store.mp3car.com/Carnetix_CNX..._p/pwr-016.htm

install it according to instructions and call it a day. These regulate 7-14v into 5 volt.. then you run that 5v line to your zune to power it.

Of course, allow me to perhaps rephrase.... You could use the regulator circuit in that to provide your dock with power. Alternately, a 7805 and 7812 regulator to feed the 5 and 12v lines respectively might work as well.

If your cheap and have a power inverter and an old PC power supply lying around, you can probably rig something out of that. But you should probably just go ahead and buy the right parts the first time.

    Zune FTW, love mine bro.
