MTX amps gettin' REAL hot!!!

Hello all, I am a newbe.
I hope someone can help me. I have been putting a sytem together in my '03 F-250 for about two years now. I have had a few different problems and have been slowing figuring some out.
1) I have feedback from my Pioneer deh-9800 deck and have had it removed and sent back for repair. ( I bought an extended warranty)
2) I have had power supply problems. I have an MTX tc-4004 and an MTX tc-8001. I have been getting sub 'farts'. Sooo, I went out and bought two Optima yellow tops- and WOW!! problem solved, another created!!

3) NOW, both my amps are running REAL hot!!

I went to Future shop and was told that 2005-2006 MTX amps were recalled for getting too hot.

Can anyone help me, or does anyone have any suggestions on maybe getting Mtx to replace them?? Has anyone else done so? Or should I just re-mount them off the floor and put some fans on them?

I'm no car audio expert, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night........

If your amps are getting really hot then you are over-driving them. Either you have too much hooked up to them, or just simply the load is too high for them to function efficiently. (i.e. pairs of 4 ohm dvc subs on a bridged circuit)

Check your impedance values, the specs of your amps, and your wiring. If everything checks out ok, get better amps, or smaller speakers.

****Forgot to mention something that should be a no-brainer..... make sure your line in is low level and clean. I've seen my share of amplifiers fry from high and/or dirty inputs.

How hot is too hot?

Otherwise, if the amp's heat sink is getting hot then it's doing it's job.

Now, if the heat affects the amps audio performance then it would be of concern.

Is there proper ventilation? Maybe add some fans--etc.
