You need to be a little bit more specific when it comes to the specifications of your equiptment, RMS wattage of the amps @ what input impedance and how you have them hooked up to the amplifiers. Also you have to understand that a cap is only to power your audio equiptment more efficiently and not to stabilize your cars charging system, battery and altenator. In theory a cap will be helpful, but it is still undersood to be sub-standard next to an efficient battery.
Also you have to understand that this site is dedicated to those individuals who wish to learn more about being able to integrate a computer into their car. Although, some members on here may have some knowledge about and utilize standard car audio equiptment, it may be used in unconventional means. If you wish to learn more about the subject, Welcome. Some cars have more overhead on the alternator than others. Play it safe and buy yourself a capacitor. Frying an alternator is no fun

a cap isn't going to help save your alt. if you think about it, it's another component that draws power from your alt.

Completely true. According to the design of a cap, it is not used to help or put less stress on the power source (batt and alt), its only function is to provide rectified power to device it is closest to. That doesnt mean you can just put a cap near the battery or altenator. If you are thinking you could do that, you might as well get a better battery as well as a 2nd battery.
