That is what I've heard in the past... Active Crossover? How does that connect to the computer? Is that some kind Equalizer or are those completely different? (JUST finished sound deadening my passenger door...)

Ok doing a little more research... I *think* I would still need a DAC.

    Would Go:

PC > DAC > Active Cross Over > Amps > Speakers

Or do active crossovers have some kind of DAC built in? (don't believe so).

    Thanks

look into the behringer DCX2496 (what i have) or the alpine h701 (had this in my last setup) for a more streamlined solution

either will be perfect for mids, tweets and a sub.

    Thanks

Thank you for the recommended main-stream devices. (looking at the manual for the DCX2496)

If I am reading this correctly, is there an S/pdif input?

I have a spdif port on my M10000, would that be any better or worse then using a bloat?

it has aes input which is pretty close to s/pdif... so close that it can read s/pdif signal, you just need a special cable (75 ohm rca to xlr) you can get this custom made from sweetwater for about 30 bucks. the thing with the the behringer is that you need the moded psu. do a search on this forum for a thread i started. it's an easy plug and play solution and though it's a rack mounted device, the actual board inside is pretty small. i just took mine out of the case.

is it better or worse then a bloat... well a bloat would probably edge it out slightly in sq. but the behringer will absolutely own it in tuning and versatility. there is an x-over, time alignment, eq and all controllable via the computer or the onboard controls. for me, it's a no brainer. the sq advantage of the bloat will be null when compared to a properly tuned setup.
