Bad reception

I'm having problems getting good reception in my car. I have the Visteon and mitch's cable and got one of these antennas:

Now, in my basement, I get pretty good reception, so I was optimistic. However, in my car, I get a lot of static. I know it's the antenna and nothing else because when I touch it, I get excellent reception. Obviously, I can't be driving and holding the antenna forever! lol
Anyone got an idea what I could do to try and get better reception?

Same here man, I was living in Phoenix and got great reception and once i installed visteon with my stock antenna the reception is not of good quality. Now I'm back in PA, if it's not HD it barely comes in.

Well it could be the antenna isn't pulling in the signal in that well, have u tried putting somewhere else?

I'm not sure where the best location would be. I tried on the rear window only and I get poor reception. I know it's the antenna, since I get perfect reception when I hold it (effectively making myself part of the antenna).
My carpc is in the trunk. What other location could I try?
