Help wiring amp! please!

Hey again ppl,

just got my new speaker set (cheapy one from maplin but looks promising), that includes a 4ch amp, two 6x9s and 2 4" cone speakers.

My problem is wiring it up!

Here's a diagram hopefully explaining the problem and how i have currently got the thing wired up, not sure it is correct as i am getting a fair bit of noise (although it does work

)

i have had a quick scan so far, will read it later, what your saying is i'm getting too much noise due to the (-) sides of the HU outputs being left floating. However, when i force these to ground no sound comes out. The solution is to connect these all to ground via a ground loop isolator?

The word "noise" can mean a lot of different things. What exactly are you getting? is it a buzz? hum? static? distortion? just not sounding good? engine noise?

A buzz or hum is probably a ground loop, which is probably caused by having your amp grounded in a different spot than your computer and head unit. The device above might help, but doesn't always work. Make sure you have have a solid ground connection on all the devices in your system(i.e. sand off paint, solder on a spade connector)

If it is just static and not sounding as good as you think it should, it might be the high level inputs. In my experience, high level inputs have always left a lot to be desired. Try temporarily connecting you computer directly to the amp with one of these. If that works, you might want to try going without a head unit or getting a head unit with pre-outs.

i thought about doing this aswel, however, then i cannot listen to my radio with the HU.

i like the current HU and can't afford a replacement really.

if i were to try connecting from the computer, how would i split the signal 4 ways (obv its only 2 ways out the PC...left and right)

You can get one of these, and two of these.

There are other ways to do it, but this is the cheapest and easiest way.

If your think about going without a HU, you could look into this thread for radio. I haven't used it, but it looks promising.

Just wondering, what type of noise were you getting?
