Ford Taurus 2001 Car Mp3 help

hey guys new to the forum and looking to solve a long time problem of mine. I have had my 2001 Taurus for awhile now and I have been through at least 4 FM transmitters, one a pretty nice Harmon Kardon, all of which have failed me. Having the Taurus' stock radio be awkward and take up most the dash, its hard to find a new inexpensive face/deck. What is the best way to go about hooking up your IPOD to a 2001 Taurus? I don't want to deal with fm transmitters anymore, and if possible I don't want to purchase one of the rare decks available for the Taurus. What is the best way to go about this? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.
