Recently tried Ai10 board with PXA-H800. Board works well with H800 even without firmware update. The main difference is that H800 choosing the mode (standalone or slave) slightly differently. When ACC is enabled via AiNet connector H800 entering slave mode and awaiting "turn on" command from the bus ("l 6" controller command). In slave mode processor accepting AiNet commands, but volume and input selection are not available from RUX.
When ACC coming from power connector H800 automatically switching to slave mode with full RUX functionality. As opposed to H700/701 new H800 is not accepting AiNet commands in slave mode. To work with Ai10 H800 should be turned on from AiNet (i.e. pin #1 of AiNet connector should be connected to ACC source directly or to pin #9 of on board Car connector).
Update: Just found out that H800 needs an additional unmute command from HU to enable the outputs. Without unmute H800 would accept all commands (change the volume, presets and inputs), but all outputs will be silent. Working on Ai10 firmware update to send unmute automatically after enabling the ACC.

I have been following this thread for some time. I think what you are doing is outstanding. From my perspective, there may be limited action because the H800 still is not available here in the US and the H700 are getting difficult to find and in poor condition. When the H800 finally is release here, I am sure there will be an overwhelming amount of interest.
I was one of the guys that was very excited about this project when you started it but as I watched it progress, it appeared to me that I likely would struggle to actually be able to get this board to do anything for me due to the fact that I know <0 about code. Is this the case? Do I have to know how to code the features that i want it to do?
My goals would be to:
1. Adjust the volume of the 701 with my Griffin Powermate and have that volume level return after power is cut and restored to the 701 controller. Currently the PC retains it's volume level but the controller defaults back to 0 so I have to turn up the controller each time I start the truck then adjust from there with the Griffin Powermate.
2. I would like to feed a second optical signal into the processor from the Sirius Sat Radio home tuner (which has optical out) and have the H701 switch optical sources when I select Sirius in CF and likely Ride Runner in the future.
3. I would like to take the mute wire of my Parrot BT device and use it to mute the H701 likely through the NAV mute wire? and feed the audio (which is currently going through a small dedicated speaker into one of the H701 analog inputs.
Is this board likely beyond my capability of use or is there something I am missing that makes it fairly easy to configure?
I generally agree with your concerns and keep trying to make the project more end user friendly. Please note however that it's not a business for me, just a hobby. That's why I published all source code and schematics for free expecting that community will develop it futher. Unfortunately today I'm only one who keeps updating the code even though my own goals are already met.
I guess you built one board by yourself. Hope it helped you to solve at least some of your issues. It would be nice to see more details about your system.
Ok, back to your points.
1. How did you set H700/701 operation mode (master/slave) with 'm' command? In stand alone (master) mode processor retains the last volume level after ACC is back on, so there's no need to do if from controller. I'll check the code again and try to fix bugs in next FW release if I'll found any.
2. Could you set CF to issue input switching command when Sirius is selected? H70x could automatically select third optical input only in slave mode and only from AiNet1 analogue input. So automatic input selection is very limited feature.
3. In other words, do you want to switch the inputs when mute wire somehow changing it's state? It could be done with minor SW update.

I have not built a board however I have just been watching this thread trying to figure out if I would be capable of achieving the end result that I want. If I was sure it could be done and I could figure out how to do it, I would buy a finished board if available or would build if there are none available.
My hopes are that your board would allow me to do what is illustrated below.
The audio stream would function like this:
PC starts, X-fi goes live, your board sets the volume on the H70x to a predetermined level and if:
- Front End is set on anything but SAT radio then DIGITAL3 is active and PC sound flows through processor.
- FE is set on SAT Radio, DIGITAL2 is active and SAT tuner audio flows direct from tuner through processor.
-Phone call goes active (answered call or dialed) the mute wire of the Parrot triggers through the Guide Control Cable on the H70x to mute all sources and pass audio from Parrot analog audio output through the "Input Guide" input to pass through the processor.
This would be the last main "missing link" in my system. The last thing I would hope for is that eventually the Parrot control buttons and screen data could be routed through CF or RR but thats another story.
I would be most interested in your thoughts on acheiving this.
This thread has been quiet lately, but hopefully people are still checking on it. I found this thread today and find it very exciting as I have been looking for a device very similar to this one. In my case I would like to use a non-Alpine head unit to drive the PXA-H100 processor via standard RCA outs. I realize I will most likely need an all Alpine setup for dumping and decoding any PXA-H100 specific commands. I only need to control the volume and turn the PXA-H100 on and off as I would use a laptop to do all the tuning. I have read in other threads that the audio signal sent via AI-net is at some fixed, low level and the volume commands control the actual output. If this is true I'd have to add software and HW to monitor the head unit's output, scale it to the fixed AI-net level and generate the appropriate volume commands. Does anyone know more about this facet of AI-net?
