What I would love to do with an AI-net interface is select a song from a CarPC from the headunit. Have it display title/artist/time/album etc. I don't expect you to rush off and make it happen though... just what I've been wanting to do for a while.

I second the need for bass level control for the sub out channel.
Also if the input selection could be controlled by the actions of Centrafuse, that would be amazing. I have a toslink cable from my X-fi going to the processor and I am converting my MJ SC-C1 satellite box over to a toshlink to run back to the processor separately instead of through the X-fi first. So when I select "Sirius" in CF, if it could switch inputs on the H701, that would be amazing. If a BT call in CF could trigger the third input, I could possibly convert the mic over to optical as well.
I am doing a 5.1 surround setup so if switching CF to "DVD" could trigger the processor to switch from 2.1 to 5.1, that would be an added bonus.

I'm not familiar with Centrafuse, but guess it should be pretty flexible and open for different kinds of hardware. All you'll have to do is teaching Centrafuse to send specific command to COM (or USB) port when particular playback device is activated. Hope that shouldn't be an issue. Surely, I'll publish all AiNet commands I know, but you'll be able to send any other commands discovered by community.
I don't get why you'd like to convert analogue input from mic to optical when H700/H701 equiped with three independent analogue inputs (one RCA and two AiNet accessible via simple AiNet->RCA adapter).
As far as I know H700 automatically detects DolbyDigital and switching to 5.1.
However if you'll set up all 5 acoustic channels + 1 sub even stereo source will be automatically distributed over 5.1

I would expect that this can be done too, but I'm not too sharp at this stuff. I'm sure help will be available to figure it out over on the FluxMedia forums.
Only to try to eliminate as much noise as possible. It's a long run from the front to the back with a lot of power wires along the way. I hate 3.5mm mini plugs, they seem to always end up loose & noisy. I have a $10 convertor ordered to convert the Sirius box to optical so I just thought, if I did the mic as well, all 3 optical inputs would be used and muting all other sources would be a non-issue if I was actually switching input sources when the BT phone was activated. Again , I'm not sure it would work but might be worth investigating.
It may, I just have not had the oportunity to spend much time with the processor features yet to find out. I'm just in the middle of my install now.

This is great news. H701 control via a PC would make such a difference to my project. Happy to donate or pay a good price for any hardware...
So nice to be at the stage where we can add our "shopping lists"!:
1) Volume. Incremental and absolute both useful.
2) Input selection - would this be input selection - +, or can it be absolute i.e. digital 1? Anologue 1?
3) Sub level
4) Fader/balance
5) Presets
Com port control would work well for myself using Girder.

I'd be so keen for this. How can I get my hands on your controller? I love hacking round with stuff like this and making it do what I want, rather than what it was designed for. As for the device to intercept, I was just thinking an ipod? It should send all that stuff out.
Ipod / Ipad would be an interesting alternative - my install is in a VW Campervan, so would be good for the rear area when sleeping etc.
If an RS232 Com port is the hardware, this could be done using something like the Global Cache products such as a GC-100 or Itach IP2Serial for the device connection, and a PC, mobile device, and Ipod etc as a controller. Several Ipod/Ipad solutions for controlling the GlobalCache products out there.
Think I'm getting carried away with all the possibilities!
We finalizing board design, hope to complete first controllers in few weeks.
We could build the controller in it's own case or make board suitable for integration in H701 case. Which way is better to you?

2. H701 inputs are selected by absolute addresses (each input having it's own unique ID). Sequential (+/-) selection could be easily implemented, but I don't think it's really valuable
3, 4, 5 -- In the list already. I'm trying to borrow better HU to intercept appropriate packets. Hope to sort it out shortly.
