Does that OEM headunit have an aux input? How about a cd changer?
This is my first post (and I hope that it doesnt double post as I tried to post earlier but nothing showed up) and I have never done the whole forum thing before but I keep coming to this site for answers and now Im stuck.
I am installing an Acer Aspire 1 netbook into my 1999 infinity I30. All I have to do now is get my computer to play through the Bose STOCK audio. I do NOT have (or really plan on obtaining) an amp. I would like to utilize either the headphone jack on the daughter board or the speaker out (that went to the two embeded speakers in the laptop) on the motherboard. I am keeping the stock HU because I would like to have radio access. I am comfortable with splicing into any wires I need to...but the problem is that I have no experience with car audio other than replacing speakers and I have know idea which wires do what as they are connected to the clips.
Any help that can be provided is definitely needed at this point and I would appreciate REALLY DUMBED DOWN explanations. Also, as i have looked for hours, if you know where I can find a list of what wires go where it would help a TON!
Thanks,
Russ
here are some pics of where I am now. The first is a look at the radio I have (will post a pic of the back later)
the other is a look at the screen mount but also to give an idea of my setup. I see a lot people say to cut the clips off... I would like to go around this in some way, perhaps just cutting into the wires I need.

My carpc worklog
it has no aux input. I do have a cd changer. (but it only holds one cd)
I had thought I solved the problem when I found this link http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...tock-bose.html the first post is for a 1995 HU which doesnt really match but the 11th post is really close to what I have except for the fact that I do not have an "Aux on" pin, the pin in that spot on my HU is labed no-connection (n.c) but I tried it anyway and it still failed.
My AA1 has a small port on it that went to two small speakers that were installed on it, I removed the speakers themselves and extended the connections to the corresponding L+, L-, R+, R- that was suggested by that thread. I think the only issue is with the N.C that is supposed to be the aux - i have no way at that point to tell the radio to listen to those ports.
My current hypothesis is that I should be able to do the same thing to where ever the tape deck plugs into... thus replacing my tapedeck with my computer audio.
I thought about the whole tape to earphone jack idea but i dont want external wires like that. I want something permanent.
Though I keep thinking that I have figured it out...I ultimately dont really know what to do!
Thank you for the response ( I tried to reply last night as I still needed your assistance, but i didnt see the quick reply button until just now) No it doesnt have an aux in but it does have a cd changer....but it does have an aux in NOW!
I was fiddling with it this morning and simply examined the PCB on the bottom of the hu until I found the Main and sub channel controls for the radio. I then cut open a male to male 3.5mm cable and pluged the jack into my ipod. I then tested it out with the hu pluged in and the radio on. I touched one wire to the L-out solder point and then touched the other to the solder pad labled sig-gnd and BANG! the ipod over road the radio on the left side of the car. the right side still played the music that the radio put out ( i cycled thourgh station and still had on the left my Bach and on the right some hip hop, country, etc)
So what I did was take the wires that went to my internal speakers coming from the mother board, cut off the speakers and solders speaker wire into there place to extend the length. I then connect one wire from each speaker souch to either the left or the right and then solderd a switch inbetween them to the ground. I mounted the switch and then, since I was half there alread, did the same thing to the cut up 3.5mm jack wire and now I have an aux in!! I can listen to radio station I wish...then have my ipod on and flip the switch and there you go BEAUTIFUL/CLEAN iPod music. No staic, no interference!!! I will post a howto with some schematics upon request!
Thanks to all the thread that have helped me out sofar on mp3car, I will be back as I still need to install the rear cam and touchscreen digitizer!
