    Amp/Cap Distance from the Battery...

I have my car battery in the spare well of my trunk. I'm building a rack for my amps over the wheel well.

How far away should the amps be from the battery to prevent interferance?

Can the cap sit close to (inches) from the battery?

How close can I get the motherboard?

You won't get any 'noise' from a battery...but the wiring itself might 'pickup' EMI...
However, the shorter the cable run, both ground and power, the better for your amps.

If you have a well designed setup, with ample grounding, and proper gauge wire, there is absolutely no need for a stiffening cap...I'd Ebay the sucka!

    Short

    Thanks.

The distance will be short for sure. So no problems if the 0 AWG power cables run under or by the amps? How close do speakers wires need to be to cause issues?

The cap is a Fosgate RFC10HB 10 farad Hybrid Digital Capacitor. I got it for cheap and its more for cleaning up the power and looks.

For looks, I guess it'll be fine!
Amps are typically designed with the inputs on the opposite side of the power terminals...
Your speaker wires should be fine running near the power wires, but keep them away from the line-level RCA's.
If they must cross over, do it at a 45 degree angle, and try to not have them running parallel together withing 6 or 8" and you should be okay...

90 degree angle. 45 degrees still has a EM field that can interfere with eachother.

And the cap is useless. But you would want it to be as close to whatever you are trying to filter. Near the battery you are filtering the battery, which doesnt need to be filtered.

The electromagnetic field of two wires laying 90 degrees or parallel with each other have a greater tendancy to 'talk' to one another...

Parallel yes, as 2k1toaster said 90 degrees is ok.

90 degrees is 0% cross talk in an ideal world.

parallel (0/180) is as much cross talk as possible.

Shouldn't the cap be as close to the amp as possible?

...or as far way from the car as possible!
