Opinions: 4.1 Sound Card VS Aux Input in Head Unit

    Hey Guys,

I'm working on my first CarPC and one of the most important things to me is sound quality. I have a Kenwood deck (which I'm keeping) with an aux input that I have been using when listening to mp3 players and I never like the sound quality because the audio processed poorly before it gets to the head unit.

I have a 4-channel amp (4*50W RMS) for the interiors plus a subwoofer amp as well. Would a 4.1 USB sound card do the trick? I'm concerned the line outs may not be powerful enough for good, clean sound.

    Any suggestions/opinions?

    Thanks!

You cannot get any better USB sound card than this one: http://www.soundblaster.com/products...=17751&listby=
    Code:
    Feature Description Playback: USB 2.0: Stereo/ Surround ≤ 24-Bit/96kHz 5.1

                  Surround 16-Bit/48kHz Signal-to-Noise Ratio: >99dB (20kHz Low-pass filter, A-Weighted) Recording: ≤ 24-bit/96kHz X-Fi Technology: X-Fi Crystalizer
     X-Fi CMSS-3D Surround
     X-Fi CMSS-3D Virtual
X-Fi CMSS-3D Headphone Connectivity: Microphone in (1/8" mini jack)
Stereo Line in (1/8" mini jack)
     Headphone out (1/8" mini jack)
Left/Right Speaker out (2x RCA jacks)

     Center/Subwoofer out (1/8" mini jack)

Oh... btw: ditch the AUX input to your kenwood player.... bad sound quality compared to the Audigy

Nice...there's a store close by that sells that card. I'll give it a whirl. Hopefully the line-out voltages are decent enough. Yes the AUX input on the kenwood sucks but when playing CD's/Mp3-CD's I've got 5V outputs to my amps...nice clean sound
