    Amps????????

hi, i have 2 1300w sony xplod subs in my trunk. I am attempting to hook them up and i am wondering what kind of amp i should use. I do not want to fool with the speakers in my doors i just want the extra power in the trunk. I have a sony xpold deck and i was wondering also how i wire that to the amp and subs.

Your deck might have a separate sub out, go and check.
Take a Sony Xplod (or any other) amp to fire the subs.

if the subs are rated at 1300 rms this means the subs can handle the 1300 watts all the time. Now if it is 1300 max, this means when sony tested the subs, they maxed out the subs just before they blew up and what number it maxed out at is your max. in this case would be 1300 watts. But if you read the manual you'll probably find that your subs might be rated at an rms of say 300 or 400 watts. With this all said, you are to get an amp that can handle your rms rating, and if your speakers are rated at 300, then i would put say 250 watts to them or a bit more.

Now hooking them to your system, on the back of your deck you should have two possible three rca out puts. if you have three, one will be a sub out. this is the one I would use. run a longer rca cable from this out put and plug it in on the amps input. wire the amp as normal 8 gage wire from battery, 10 gage to a chassie ground, and a remote turn on from the radio or remote switch. if you only have two rca out puts. I would run the rca from the deck out of the rear rca cable.

This should do it, have fun and let us know if you need further help.

you need to tell us the rms rating on your subs before we can tell you what kind of amp to use and whether or not to bridge the channels or not.

you can buy a 760W 2 channel amp, and bridge the subs, what i mean is:

    + from channel 1, - from channel 2
    - from channel 2, + from channel 1

just make sure that the amp you buy can go to at least 2 ohms.

don't feed 1300W to the subs, after 380W the sound will just distort and sound like crap
