the real question i was asking, was whether or not a 4 guage wire will be able to handle all that current.

wire stretch isn't an issue, i can always add more after the distribution block.

EDIT: after reviewing your chart let me rephrase the question. will a 4 gauge wire which can handle X amps according to that chart which weve all seen, how many amps will that 700w sub actually pull if its only powering ****ty tinny little speakers?
What 700w sub are you talking about, and im not sure I know what your asking? sorry

whats the RMS wattage on that? i couldn't find the info anywhere.
No im counting on somethind around 200 rms as they are 4ways

and my crunch amp will run a 4ohm x4 at 200rms so it should work wonderfully
the woofers in them should sound fairly good but im hooking him up with a 12"er along with those so It should sound very nice

sounds nice, you couldn't find the RMS spec either? 200rms is probably a good guess, but, for example, sony xplod 4way 6x9s rated at 300w peak only do 60w rms

its 900 not 700 ampers, it will need a 8g wire at the very least I'd run a 4g personally, but a 8g should be fine

I ran a 4gauge initially just to be on the safe side for the future, but will a short run (say <6") or 8gauge be ok?

Also a good rule of thumb is, add the fuses on the side of the amp up. If your current amp on your Sony sub has 3, 20 amp fuses then at max you would pull 60 amps of current on that sub amp.

Keep that in mind if you plan on running your car pc from that 4 gauge too.

Very true though I didn't mention this cuz that amp has a built in fuse as 90%+ of them do but yeah totally true though can never be to safe

Yeah i think im pretty covered fuse wise. I have one less than 6 inches from the battery, i plan on adding one before the distribution block, and my amp has some fuses built in as well.

also, I've seen people using low farad capacitors as a form of shutdown timer, they run the pc until they drain too low in voltage, shutting it down! (but usually giving enough time for a safe shutdown) I think I may do that...

hopefully my 4gauge can handle all the current!

and not only do I plan on doing the big 3 upgrade, I hope to increase my cars grounding by adding some ground wires in the engine bay.
