"Open"?? You mean switch the ASIO line on and off in Console?
Your line in's don't have to be 'ON' in ASIO4All unless your planning on using Console to manipulate the input somehow...
In Windows speaker properties, setup your mic IN as your line in/voice recorder and/or your mic as default recording device and that's it!

The only thing you want 'ON' in ASIO4All/Console are your 8 channels out and your VAC in...everything else can be off.

    yeah i understand that.

i have two inputs to feed. one is the hqct to the line-in. the other is the phone mic to the muc input.

how do i configure the RR to use them ? i can't mark both as a recording device..

i need RR to access them and being that there are no asio inputs to configure on RR i can't see how to solve this.

    thanks for all your help.

I dunno how RR works in this regard...
By 'phone mic', I assume you just mean a regular microphone used when speaking to the phone thru BT?
Even with both of them switched off in ASIO, the devices (Line In/Mic) should still show up in both the Windows Recording sound properties AND as input options in your front end...if not, then you have something wrong, i.e. drivers, configuration, etc...

I'm using two inputs as well, one for the HDRadio, the other for mic...mic is set as default in Windows speaker properties. Line In (Radio) is selected in my Centrafuse radio options, and that is all that is needed for them to work...
You can only have 1 "default" device for recording in Windows (and playback), which I don't really understand the purpose, as you can use all your devices concurrently, regardless which is your 'default'...perhaps RR is only giving you the option to use the 'default' device?
For example, I run 2 Xonars, and Windows lists 'Xonar Speakers' and 'Xonar Speakers-2', but niether is my 'default' device (VAC is), but they work properly...

Are you trying to use the Xonar line in's or the mainboard line in's?? As I mentioned a few times already, if your running the RC02 Vista drivers in XP, your inputs will be useless...
If your using the mainboard sound, make sure you have the latest drivers AND software installed, and configure your line in's using it...

Apart from that, it must be a RR issue, and you should maybe start a thread in a RR forum group?

well.. i'm pretty close to finish but with a few problems.

pretty annoying problem with the RR and asio..

by now i had managed to work the HQCT with my onboard soundcard by using the winamp line-in plugin. all works well.

the problem is that i also need to connect the microphone for the handsfree bt phone. by doing that i get to hear the two channels together.. which is kind of fun but no good.

i can see that there are MUTE functions that i can use on the radio button that will mute all other channels except the hqct line in.

my question is how do i implement those functions in my skin and how do i get it to change back automaticlly to the previuos state once i stop using the radio ?

another question - is there any phone plugin that is able to produce sound (the voice of whom i'm speaking to over the phone) through the winamp line in plugin ? (so that the sound will go through asio to console)

thanks for all the help and sorry for my bad english..

If your using ASIO4All and VAC, it isn't going to make a difference which 7.1 configuration you use I don't think...as for VAC, you only need 2 channels, left and right.
Your music is only 2 channel audio, right?

I've been using the same Vista driver ever since I found a working one...I haven't changed it. Maybe you have the wrong one installed?
I'd test each output individually, and test them very carefully, and make sure your not trying to blow your speakers...
If you have the wrong Vista driver installed, your going to get lowpass/full range from the sub/center jack!
