i would use 12ga like it recommends, if you look on the package for the amp kit it should tell you the size of the remote wire.
i gots a 1200watt rms amp. the booklet says to use 12ga. remote turn on wire..i ordered a 2ga. power&ground wire amp kit. anyways the remote wire in that kit is tiny as heck, i know it cant even be close to 12ga. its the same size as the wires cming out the back of my cd player. how important is THICK remote wire? can i use this wire or do i need like 12ga. remote wire for the 12oo rms, 2000max amp? what kind of remote wire do you guys have???PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I use 12ga wire... to my SUB!
Remote wire does not carry more than 0.5 amps on most amps, its just a signal line. 18ga (and even 22ga) and up will work just fine if you are not running too many amps. You could run 12ga, but it would be total overkill.
The wire that came with your kit should work just fine.
Agreed, 12ga seems like way overkill. I usually use 18ga and have never had a problem, but I don't have any 1200W amps either. I've hooked up 3 individual amps to one 18ga (just piggybacked off each other) and works fine.
cool thats what i thought. thanks for the reassuranceappreciated
the amp should not be drawing any power off that remote wire... its only a trigger signal. so small wire is fine
cool, thats what i though. but the hole and screw for the remote wire on my amp is so damn big, it had me wondering!
That's to make it match the others.![]()
