From here it looks like your fronts are 13cm and your back is 10cm. So 13cm would be around a 5.25" speaker.

Basically for a good system, you will want:

    Front speakers: Quality Component set
    Back speakers: Quality 2-way speakers

Amp1: 4 channel to run all the speakers
Amp2: 1 channel to run all the subs

Because you have brands over there that I've never heard of in the states, here is a good way to tell the real power of the amp. Use this equation:
(fuse total) x 13.8 (common battery voltage) x 80% (fuses are generally rated at 20% over max power).

    So if you see an amp that has 2 50amp fuses, then (100 x 13.8 x 80%) = 1100 watts max power.

Thats a very basic way to tell but if you aren't familiar with brands it is a good idea to keep it in mind.

Ok i have shopped around on caraudiocentre.co.uk and found these which match your list above.

Is this a good setup ? Two Subs in the rear with the Legacy amp in between. Then the other four speakers in the front and back doors with the amp mounted somewhere else.

If you really want to know whether a setup is good or not, I suggest taking a trip to a local car stereo shop and asking about specific components.
In addition, if there are local groups of car stereo enthusiasts in your area, hook up with them and ask some questions about what you want.
You can also hear some different components to get an idea for overall quality. Granted, the audio quality will not be the same in the store as it will be in your ride, but it will give you a fair approximation.

You're not going to get a lot from a bunch of random people on the internet other than differing opinions about brands and the like.

PERSONALLY, I'm not a fan of mis-matching different brands of speakers and amps and such. It looks tacky to me, especially if any of the hardware is visible. To me it screams that you bought your hardware from Craigslist or at a flea market, whether you did or not.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Well i have taken on board what DarquePervert said and found a setup of speakers and subs matching however i am slightly confused as to what to do about the amp for the subs. The two subs i would get are Pioneer TS-W308D2 1400 watts. so that would total 2,800 watts. I cant find a two channel amp that is 2,800 watts. What should i do about that ?

Those subs are rated at 400W RMS with dual voice coils rated at either 2ohm or 4ohm each, depending on which one you get. You'll need a single channel amp (monoblock) or a bridgable 2 channel amp that will do around 800W RMS. If you get the 2ohm voice coils, you should look for an amp rated at around 800W RMS @ 2ohms. If you get the 4ohm voice coils, you should look for an amp rated at around 800W RMS @ 1ohm. Don't put a 2,800W amp to those subs you'll blow them in a second.

BTW, someone check my numbers, it's early and I can't tell if I did the ohms right.
