Ok major change of plan. One 15" DB Audio Raptor DVC Sub and four 6"x9" Infinity Kappa693.7 330watt speakers will be fitted, just need the correct amp size please![]()
Hi All,
I am shortly going to be buying my first sound system for my Saxo. I will be buying two 15" DB Audio Raptor15 DVC Subwoofers and two 6"x9" Infinity Kappa693.7 330watt speakers. I was just wandering if anyone would be able to help me in choosing a suitable Amp/Amps as i am a complete NOOB within the sound system world. Much Appreciated.

You sure about that setup? DB audio I don't think makes a good sub, and 4 6x9's, does that mean you plan on putting 6x9's for your front speakers?
As i said i am a complete NOOB at this whole car audio business. Any better suggestions as i will be purchasing very shortly ?
What i am after is a decent in car sound system. I am able to build my own mounts for the speakers in the boot as my father is in the fiberglass business, so it will look neat and tidy. I now just need the setup... that is where i have no clue...
Why the 15"s?? Everyone thinks bigger is always better! My JL audio W6 10''s blow away a lot of "bigger" subs on the market. Go to JL Audio's site
and read up about subwoofers and their reviews. They make the best subs and amps on the market. A little more money but well worth it.
Can they be ordered over from america yeah ? i live in scotland.
Would you just have the Subs in the boot of the car and speakers in the front or could you have it all in the boot ? with the amp.
By boot I'm assuming you mean the rear of the vehicle correct? If so yes, you always want your bass coming from behind you and your highs in the front with some mid range frequencies. You'll also want some mids and highs coming from the rear to balance everything out. I have a Dodge Durango and my set up is with 2 10" subs in the very rear where the hatch opens. In the front doors I have component speakers (a tweeter and mid range drive that are separate from one another). In the rear doors I have 2 way speakers mid and highs (tweeter is actually attached to the speaker with the mid driver). Hope this helps you a little bit.
You can find JL Audio products on Ebay and I'm sure there are dealers in Europe or resellers. They will only ship to the USA directly from their store![]()
Yes thank you that does help me. Now i need to find speakers to fit my doors :S... Will i need an amp for the speakers at the front ?
I am now eyeing these up for the boot of my car.
The car i am getting is a saxo furio, anyone know of speakers that would fit in the front of this car ??
This is a common setup, but only becasue space is at a premium in autos.
in a perfect world, everything would go in front, so that it feels like you are at a concert-- the band doen't play behind you at a concert..
The best bet is to listen to some speakers at a local audio dealer with some of your own music to decide what you would like, otherwise, asking what is best on a forum is going to get all sorts of answers.
jl makes some good higher-end equipment, but their low-end product line is really no better/worse than anyone elses, similar materials, just a slightly different overall sound.
I would definitely argue against JL being the best, but they are (usually) pretty good, even if they are way over priced. Any 15" sub built to the same quality as your 10" W6 would "blow away" your 10" without even working hard.
Whatever you choose to buy, I highly recommend you ONLY buy from authorized retailers. You could run into so many issues otherwise.
6"x9" are generally not very good sounding speakers. Go with a round component set, or at least a round (not oval) coax speaker if you can.
