    Good, Cheap amp

    Hi,

I'm after a "step up" from my factory head unit, I see way to many manufacturers priced the same, and it's really hard to make a decision.

I'm only powering front components and rear 6 x 9's. So low power like 50w x 4 RMS is fine for me.

I'm after something that is cheap but gives good sound quality for the price that I pay.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Check the classified add sections on the car audio forum sites. You can find a really good quality used amp for far less than a cheap quality new amp.

Jensen seems to be a good cheap brand. I just ordered a couple off amazon. The number in its name doesnt reflect how much power it gives but on sonicelectronix.com you can find the rms specs and see good pictures of many amps. For $75 I got a new 75x4 amp.

in the good cheap category, it really could be any amp that emits sound(there really isn't a audible quality difference between most cheap amps anymore), the best bet though is the classifieds either online or in your local area. pioneer, sony, kenwood, pyramid are the first couple of budget amp brands that come to mind if you have to, or would prefer to buy new.

edited for bxsteez post: a cheap amp would be sub $200 range for me.

I think you should define what you mean by cheap. Cheap is so relative.
