HD Radio Cables READY!
Ok guys- fry me if you need to-
I keep seeing that the Visteon or Directed HD units might solve my problem of wanting to get rid of (completely) the fact head unit and allow me to have AM/FM HD radio functionality if you use "Mitch's cable".
Two questions occur to me-
Who is Mitch ( and a link to this mysterious cable perhaps) ?
and
Which gets the vote Visteon or Directed.
ok a PS - and WHY?
Thanks,
Larzz

As far as I can tell, the Directed and Visteon units are nearly identical. Get whichever one is cheapest on ebay.
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - Update coming this spring
BlazerPC - PS keeps killing battery
I have both and the Directed gets better reception in my very unscientific tests. LOL
Anyway there is a Directed on Ebay for $90 shipped :

I Think the directed is also better.. but does anyone want to part with the display panel
per post http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/vbcl...?do=ad&id=2590 .. I just cant find it anywhere.. One thing though make sure you can get over the fact it willl either choose hd or normal fm... think of it as a skipping cd.. when it kicks in to HD and then back to analog mode.
KIAs can have car pcs too..
Is the transition very noticable? My HDZ seems to transition very smoothly. In fact, if it were not for the HD logo coming on, I'd probably never even notice it. Of course, the difference between an HD station and a very powerful regular FM station is not ALL that noticeble, sound-wise. There's so much ambient noise in most cars that whatever sonic advantage HD provides over standard FM is not that significant. IMO, it's the extra channels that really bring the value of HD.
