Keeping Current Radio - Question About Cables

Hi everyone, let me know what you think of this and if it would be possible.

I am considering a carputer front end music jukebox sort of thing. I have a lot of the problems (Such as power, mounting, etc) solved. But I had one question about the radio...

I currently have a Dual XDM7615 and when I move to a carputer I would still like to use that... Mostly because it works decently, I wouldn't have to get any amps for the speakers, and I wired it into my 2007 Hyundai Sonata's steering wheel controls.

What I would like to do is mount everything in the trunk, and simply plug the carputer into the aux in port on the radio. Up front I am going to use an LCD touch screen that will fit into a Double Din sized mount.

The issue is with my current radio though, where do I put it? I would like to put it into the trunk with the other equipment. I am okay with some wiring, but would rather not mess with too much (Installing the after market radio harness and steering wheel control interface is about as comfortable as I am with messing with the wiring.)

What I want to do is get some sort of extension cable that plugs into the vehicle harness and run it to the trunk, then plug everything in back there. A few questions on that:

    1. Does anyone know where I can find some sort of radio wiring extender? Or will I have to get some cable and splice it myself?

    2. Will there be a significant quality loss running those cables to the trunk? Would it even be worth it?

    Thanks!

there is no cut-and-dried wiring harness, or package for relocating radios to the back of the vehicle(there are amp relocation kits, but they might be missing wires...). you might be able to put something together, but nothing you can just buy and throw in...

there wouldnt be any issues extending all the cables for the radio to the trunk... but it is a lot of cables. sure you cant mount the radio someone up front, or mount the lcd in a different location?

I don't have a problem with simply splicing them into a longer cable and running it to the trunk, but will that cause any quality problems?

    Thanks
