Small Amp To Fit Behind Screen In Dash?

    Hi,

I have a golf MK6 & am looking for an amp to go behind my Lilliput screen in the dash. I have found the Xtronics amp with built in tuner which would be perfect, but it is quite expensive & they have only replied to one of my emails out of 4 in the last 6 weeks, so I dont feel comfortable with them for any support/come-backs. an anyone recommend anything else for me? It must be four channel & if it is in the UK then even better!

    Many Thanks

I wonder if you could use an Alpine KTP-445. I know they are designed to plug into >2005 alpine headunits, but I have to think it would have power, input and output connections that you could rewire as needed. Probably contact Alpine and ask.

1 or 2 of these for headunit like power

All you need is a 2 to 4 amp 12V regulated power supply. If your carpc power supply has enough extra on the 12V to supply one you are good to go.

didn't see it mentioned, so i figured i'd add to the mayhem

some members have used a 'motorcycle amp'(search ebay) in their installs, and have said that they have just as good of audio quality as a factory head unit, though i don't use one, so can't be sure...

Thanks for all the replies! I have already looked at the motorcycle amps, but they are all 2 Channel & only 10!!! so figured they would be 10 Sound quality? I really just wanted something to plug into the existing wiring loom & then plug into my pc, but guess I am being too hopeful......

i have seen reports that they are just as good as the factory head unit in sound quality, so even at 10 pounds, they should be decent.

i have not seen any plug-and-play solutions to a carpc-amp for any cars, so i think you might need to lower your standards a little

if you enjoy a little soldering project, i have heard excellent things about the 41hz.com amps, and have been meaning to build one, just haven't gotten to it yet. they also offer pre-built units, but what is the fun in that?!?

Just to update anyone interested, I installed a Mcfun 4Channel Car/Bike Amp for 24 & it is fed by a 15 GStar 5.1 usb Sound Card & the sound quality is superb. The only thing I have to do is mount a fan to the amp as it gets VERY hot!!
