pioneer avh-p4200dvd not compatible with headrest monitors?

i just bought this unit and installed it

works fine, but even though it says there are video outs, my headrest monitors don't receive any video when hooked up. (they worked fine with my previous headunit)

i looked at the manual and noted that you have to set the rear monitor output, that's already been set. i also noted that the manual says divx files can't be played on both front headunit and rear monitors at the same time. that's fine, but dvds don't seem to work on my headrest monitors.

i'm stuck. i've spent hours trying to figure it out. maybe i'm missing some sort of plug that i need? although anything coming out of the video out from the HU should show up fine on my headrest monitor's video in, right? what am i doing wrong?
