    MIC Auto Mutes???

I was wondering if this has ever happen to anyone else in the past? Every time I shut off my car as soon as I come back get in the car, start it (computer starts up) my MIC mutes again. I get a call from someone on skype i can hear them find but they can't hear me. I then go into my audio settings and unmute my mute and they can hear me again. Why is my car pc muting automatically?

My computer in the house doesn't mute when I reboot it or shut it off and back on at a later time? My skype works all the time in the house.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?

    Thanks Phil

    Phil,
Is the computer inside the house the same exact setup as the one in the car? Are you using USB audio in the car?

To say it doesn't do it on the home PC, but does in the car PC isn't a fair comparison. There are a lot of different variables (as I'm sure you're well aware) so it's not usually a straight apple to apple comparison.

I recall some issues with USB Audio - in my previous setup I used the USB Hub to do audio, and it would randomly mute the speakers upon resume/cold boot.

    Hi jpinkerton,

Sorry Yes your right not a good comparison indeed. In the car I have onboard sound no USB, I have my mic plugged into the black mic hole on the sound card. I have the sirius plugged into the blue aux in, then I have out to the amps from the green. IN the house I have both the audio and the mic in the same places, but I do not have sirius in the house so my blue port is not used.

I know that the computer should work the same as in the house as it does in the car, but things like this happen and don't make sense to me. Maybe we can correct this one of these days? lol

Thanks for your help so far!

    Phil

When you say in the house, are you actually pulling the CarPC out of the car? or just using your desktop?

Just making sure, 'cause I was thinking from your first post you were basically using two different motherboards/computers - but now it sounds like you are taking the CarPC out of the car....

And your AUX is just stereo mini out to in or are you using a different type of adapter in between? (I'll be using Car2PC adapter)

    Hi jpinkerton

Nope I have a desk top in the house. I use skype in the house on the desktop. On that desktop computer i have a mic plugged into the mic in and the speakers plugged into audio out. 2 different computers. Hope that helps you out!

    Thanks

If it's a different motherboard, different audio drivers, differen't OS - those are all variables we'd need to eliminate before we could compare it apples to apples.

Have you tried disabling all the non-windows services/startup items (via something like MSCONFIG) except skype then trying the reboot/resume?

If that resolves it enable each one at a time and reboot afterwards to see if the problem returns. Then you'll know which piece of software is doing it.
