Well, I'm back. i got everything hooked up and running. Sounds great....but..... when i turn the stereo up to about 24 or 25 on the volume, and it hits a big bass note, the amp stops breifly. the lights on it are all still on, just no sound coming from the subs. i turn the volume back down and it works again I have wired the voice coils in series and the subs in parallel and hooked them to the amp as the instruction said. i have checked all wire connection and i am banging my head on the hood of my truck trying to work the problem out. any suggestions?

Where do you have the sensitivity on the amp set to? If it's too high, it will end up peaking out as you turn your head unit up. You would ideally start with the sensetivity turned all the way down, crank the stereo, and dial the sub amp up to get a good match with the rest of the system.

Ok.I havent done what you suggested yet. but now the amp actually shuts off not (no lights are on, on the amp and no sound through the subs. i turn the unit off for about 20 minutes and then on again, it works for about 10 minutes , starts cutting out and then goes off completely. As soon as i have time to tinker with it, i will turn the sensetivity down and try it. it does it mainly when it hits some really strong bass notes. im probly gonna take it out and go back over all my wiring,,, again.. if it's shutting down, then it is either drawing too much load to the speakers (probably shorted wiring somewhere), or it is faulty and 'thinks' it's drawing too much load.

faulty somethin...
check for pinched rca's(i cooked 3 amps with this mistake in my last car..), loose wires.. and also try to check that the subs voice coil is fully intact-- if it is starting to fall apart, this could also cause it..

The back of the head unit has two rca plugs attached to wires ( so the wires come out and then there are 2 female ends kinda dangling there) to hook to subs only. the wires appear to be crimped. can that be fixed?. the wired come out of the head unit casing, nothing to disconnect from the head unit to replace them. I have went over and over all my wiring and nothing is touching something that it shouldnt. and the subs are wired correctly (checked them about 100 times) .

Shorted inputs on the amp shouldn't cause the amp to cut out (the sound would, but the amp would stay running)

if you suspect the headunit try either a different head unit, or a different sub/amp combo-- that would definately narrow it down

Found the problem. On the back of the head unit where the rca plugs are. the plugs had seperated slightly enough to be up against some metal under the dash. i plugged them in snug, taped them together and BOOM I have a working system now. Thanks everyone for your help!

Same amp
Hi. I have the same amp! I have a single dual 10" 4ohms kicker. the amp pushes out 900 watts at a 2ohm load. How do i wire this to the amp?? Am i soposed to come outta the box with 4 wires? the kenwood book says thats how i would but the kicker book says differant
