Thread: Wiring & Setup Advice?

Hey,

I need some advice on how to wire up my audio system. I have quite a few questions so Ill try some it up nicely.

Audio Setup
HU: Kenwood KDC-BT7539U website
Sub: Rockford Fosgate website
Amp: GM-D510M website
Front Speakers: Boston Acoustics PRO60SE 6.5" (coming in the mail) website
Wiring = 4Gauge... running about 4 - 5 metres for power, straight into sub amp.

Q1. For the specs of my amp, it has:

Continuous output power (14.4 V): 1 x 500 W (20 - 240 kHz/2 Ω), 1 x 300 W (20 - 240 kHz/4 Ω)
1 x 490 W (4 Ω) or 1 x 630 W (2 Ω) DIN Power (DIN 45324, +B =14.4 V)

I have my sub wired for a 4 ohm load for the amp...what I don't understand is the two diff rms ratings for 4 ohm, the 1x300 and 1x490. Which one is it. I was thinking the 1x300 is if its amping the full spectrum and the 1x490 was if it has a LP filter on. Could someone please clarify that?

Q2. So I just bought some new front speakers rated 125w RMS and 1000w Max each. Suppose I get an appropriate amp, does it matter if i match the Max power....cuz won't it cause clipping on intensive parts? I havent found one amp with 250w rms and 2000w max, what should I be looking for...I want to match it perfectly because I wanna pump it but not destroy them.

Q3. I have 1x4 Gauge going into my subs amp. AFAIK, the cable is a bit overkill for the power requirements of the sub, but how do i go about using a distroblock for my second amp to power my front speakers (not interested in powering my non existing back ones atm). Do I split the 4Gauge into 2x8 Gauge? I was reading something about it not being good to run 8 guage or lower (something that sounded silly) to an amp powering speakers...what is the best way to split the power and have enough for both, but I need room to expand for 2 more speakers in the future (probably another 2 channel, unless i their is a decently priced 4 channel). What is the best way to sort it out? What guages do I split to and what sizes.

And then what do I do about ground, do I use a distro for that to? I have no idea how it works.

Hopefully you guys understand what im trying to say. I just want it setup properly the first time before something breaks.
