the specific amp that you linked to before should be fine connected to car power, though it wouldn't hurt to connect it to a regulated power supply..

what are power requirements of this amp - it doesn't say anywhere on the website? the amp is 4x50w, 4x100w peak - but that doesn't mean it consumes 200W of power on average and 400W peak, right? So how much power should be dedicated to the amp?

you could try to email 41hz.com for a specific answer, or you could also check other commercially available 50x4 rms amps for their amperage input.. (for jl's xd series 50x4w rms amp, they recommend a 40 amp fuse)

I have a similar project going on and I'm also interested in this amp.
I would like to find out how much power I would get with the pc's output? (single core Intel Atom board)

do you mean audio power, or the power it takes to make the amp work?

Processor speed does not affect the sound output levels. I'm really not sure what you mean.

like stereos have 2V, 5V outputs, how much output does have a motherboard audio output port(at the headphone jack)?
it will be enough for a decent power output from the amp9?

The amp is there to amplify a low power signal. It can come from an ipod or a motherboard. I don't know much about amps, but I don't think amps have a minimum input level requirements. I haven't tested my AMP9 yet, but I can let you know how it works when I get around to it.

it should output 60w rms x4 channels..

most amps have a gain control to adjust for different input levels, but i don't see it right away in the board pics.. according to the data sheet, it appears to auto-scale..

nivanov, i know it was in a different thread, but after looking at the data sheet for the tripath chip used in the AMP9, i noticed a couple features you were having trouble with:

    datasheet:http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe.../TAA4100A.html

    "Pop-Free startup and shutdown"

and "pin 11: 5VGEN, On chip 5V regulator bypass capacitor connection" not sure if this means that it generates it's own 5v signal for the other stuff, or if it is a filter circuit for a 5v signal..
