Volume control knob - logarithmic potentiometer

I'm taking headphone audio (analog) from my iPhone and connecting it to my amp. I know the dock has digital line out - but I would need some hardware to control the volume. Do you guys know of a good knob or dial that has RCA in and out on it? I don't need an EQ i'm looking for something very small that I can put in my dash to control the line level volume.

Any one use a good one or have any recommendations?

The JL Audio CL-RLC should do the trick.

^ yup.

if your using the dock connector, this is the best option. this is because the volume control in the ipad doesn't control the dock connector level. the only other option is a separate preamp, and a volume controller like this:

the bad thing about that volume controller is that you need to run a set of input, and output rca's to the location of the knob.. the cl-rlc only needs a thin phone cord run to it..

So soundman,

I saw in a video about some custom dock circuit board you used to identify the pins on the dock cable. What went into doing that? Were you able to identify what each pin was?

um, that wasn't my video... (i have exactly 1 video online. and it involves a mountain bike and a stream "that didn't look that deep"

while i will help where i can, i don't have any affiliation with soundman car audio--they've been around longer then me, but are west coast california, i'm in illinois..

anyways, according to this, the ipad/pod/phone all share the same use use of the 30 pin connector..
