Hi there. I am actually working on a car for 24 Hours of Lemons, and looking for some tips on setting up an external PA system in the car. This will be, obviously, to send text-to-speech audio trash talk generated by the PC setup to others during the race ;-)
Any good tips on what to look at in terms of amp and speakers? I am looking to go cheap, and use line out from the PC. Most of the options I've found are for law enforcement type applications and a bit too full features. All I need is a line-in, an amp of some sort, and the speakers (roof mounted)
Thanks for any advice!
i grab old alarm sirens(the internal circuit boards fry, but the siren it's self is usually fine) from car audio shops garbage cans, and solder some wires to the alarm voice coil-- works just like a cheap PA speaker, and only costs a couple cents for wire!!
Im really interested in how you would make a siren speaker a pa speaker im an audio installer and ive never heard of that! That would be interesting ive got tons laying around. Ive got a pa on my car now but it would be cool to make one.
Heres my car!
led nut huh? what have you custom built?
it's really not that hard-- you just bypass the circuit board in the back plate of the siren-- that's it..
