Bass problem between Radio Unit and PC Unit.

    Hello there,

    Looking for answers:

Why when I have plug my PC to my Car-stereo I lost the bass sound?

Unit Alpine 9854R (3 ways out, 2 normal, 1 SW out) with Cable KCA121B (2x Rca in)
2xAmpli Alpine V12 one for the speakers and the other for the Bass (Focal 27cm)
PC Sound card Wavio (onkyo) 200PCI with 2 RCA out.
It seems like the Car-stereo doesn't pilote anymore the 2nd ampli (bass)
I am using a ground loop killer Caliber LT1s between the 2 units (pc/Car-stereo).

If you have any clue don't hesitate post it !

    Thank you

If you remove the GLK, does the bass return (at the expense of noise/hum)?
If so, poor GLK - it may be better breaking the RCA shields (usually at the far end from the source, though not always) unless the reason for the loop van be eliminated (common ground; signal/power ground bonding or separation; bypass caps...).
Else a better response loop isolator.

I try to remove the GLK but there is no diffrence.(When I bought it the seller assures me that it let pass 20Hz~20kHz)
In fact it seems to be a problem coming from the Car-stereo. I try to lvl up the Bass on the ampli (+12db but nothing happens)
When I play CD it sounds amazing. When I use outside Unit I loose the bass and quality.
I can't see any solution about that...

    Good test!

I think you are right. Bass from CD means/suggests all is ok and it's the radio circuit that lacks bass...

Whilst my Alpine CDM-9821/23 quotes CD freq response as 5–20,000 Hz (1 dB), it says nothing for the radio section.
But I suspect it is the transmission that is limited. I can't find specs, but I think that for FM radio, there is usually a low-cut filter at around 30Hz.

Let's face it - it's an Alpine. It must be the fault of the carriers (radio transmissions)!

However, others with experience may shed more light - I'm more old & theoretical regarding sound issues...

Hmmm - KK Null's "bass phasor" (or whatever it was called) comes to mind.... (KK is a guitarist for Zeni Geva that do not have a bass guitarist; the bass is taken from KK's guitar via a down converter etc.)

does the sub amp turn on while the radio is selected, or only while the cd player is selected?

    Thank you for you're answers,
All I can say, it is not a PC or ampli problem.
Sorry for my approximative english but all is wire by RCA cable (Monster, oehlbach)
So I am going to try this:

Have you tried the computer into another amplifier like a home receiver. Have you tried another cable. Have you tried plugging one side in at a time. It is possible that your computer audio cable, the left and right side, are out of phase with each other and the bass is cancelling.

The Alpine adapter cable you are using looks like it uses the CD player inputs too, and has nothing to do with the radio inputs.

From you diagram you should be out of the SW out to your bass amp. I assume that the RCA outs 1 and 2 are both stereo.

"a picture is worth a thousand words"

according to your pictures, the sub amp is connected correctly in either way.

the only way the amp wouldn't work is if it turns off.

i believe the amp is not staying on when you switch modes.

can you check the power connections to the amp?

I checked the power connections to the amp and it is on.

will see it when I going to try the computer into another amplifier.

Sorry my english is not really improve. I choose car radio for translating autoradio...
