i have a gain knob, and i am always fiddling with it (because i can), i'm just saying for all-around-sq subs, my cvr's stink, and i feel it is a quality that is reflected across the entire kicker lineup..

but anyone that has heard most of kickers lineup should remember that they tend to make subs better matched to trunk-rattling then fidelity.
yeah; to me, it sound like more of a quality issue. but i could be wrong or right... so im not arguing anymore i think we are getting off of the op topic

did you mean to type 'tang band'
i only have used some 3" full range tang band's but they performed great as well. I'd love to hear the subs

Yes, i do. Here are what I have installed

I might go ahead and power up the second this weekend just to hear what it sounds like. I'm going to have to up the gain to the fronts though. The one sounds great. I had them gained up with a tiny amount of bass boost from the amp... put on some Flyleaf and my chest was pounding.

I love putting on some heavy double bass action (metalica, velvet revolver,..) letting my people hear it in the cabin then taking them to the back. 10 out of 10 didn't notice it at first, they just looked further into the trunk wondering where the subs were hidden. They're all blown away when I point them out and they totally over looked them in the wheel well at the front of the trunk. Then I tell them only one is hooked up and the jaws drop. I put them in a pretty spacious closed enclosure with polyfill. The awesome thing about these paper cones is that they're so light that they sound great at low volume and high volume, they respond instantaniously and are punchy (again great for those double bass solo's).

that happened to me once back in the day. an installer had a vw scirocco? and let me listen to the system. he opened the turnk and there was one 8" eclipse sub in a fiberglass sealed wooden enclosure. I was baffled!

looks like a start, though that sub can handle 700w rms, and the amp puts out 250w rms when bridged. you will proably want to look for a single channel 500w rms amp instead.

Inexpensive subs with great sq are hard to find. Researching reviews online and asking questions on these forums are a dead end street. As Scott_fx stated, sq is subjective. I will say that I've built some amazing sounding systems using nothing but Pyramid. And we all know how low their quality standards are. When it comes to subwoofers... the sq is factored by 2 things. 1.) an amplifier with a decent damping factor to control the speaker and 2.) the most important factor is the tuning of your enclosure. Which ever sub you decide to go with, call the manufacturer's technical support and get their recommendations and the EXACT dimensions for a tuned enclosure. Typically a sealed enclosure tends to be more musically versatile. Just my thoughts.
