in car screen,help needed

Hi im new on here and need a little help with my in car screen and hope someone can help.
right i got a 5.6" lcd monitor it has a yellow rca for video in and then red wire for live and black one for ground.I plugged the yellow rca from screen into the yellow rca on back of car stereo and left the red and black rca from my sub still in the back of stereo and thought i would then get sound from my tv through my car speakers but nothing is this the correct way?
As if so then i know problem lies with lcd monitor.Thanks.

Does the lcd monitor have a built in tv tuner?Or does the car stereo have a built in tv tuner? Do you at least get a picture on the srceen from the head unit and no sound? Does the head unit have an AUX in? A little more info about your set up will help greatly:)

Yeah got picture no sound shall i connct the red and white rca to back of stereo for sound and yellow rca to screen for picture?My stereo has aux in.The screen only has a yellow rca and red wire for live and black for ground. Cheers.

what model numbers are you using?

Connect the RED and White RCA's to AUX in on your stereo. To do this you just need to buy an RCA-3.5mm jack adaptor($2-$5) which are easily available at any electronics store/ebay etc. Obviously the 3.5mmjack side is the one that goes into your stereo's Aux. The RCA plugs that are on the back of your stereo for your sub/amp is an output only not an input like your Aux is. Does your screen have a red and a white RCA? From what im reading you have Yellow(video) Red(right audio) and White(left audio) RCA's and a Red and Black cable for power. Correct? If that is the case. Just follow the steps from above

Based on this, there is no audio out from the screen. That makes this a monitor, not a TV.

Here's the dumb question of the morning....
Did you read the instruction manual that came with the screen?

Yeah read instructions but load of crap and dont make sense,but thanks for all the replys but managed to sort it,but thanks anyway.
