that volume control does not have separate modules, so if you want the volume control up front, you need to run 2 pairs of rca's up front.
So i've pretty much got everything going in my soarer, and mostly finished**
See this thread: http://www.mp3car.com/newbie/142492-newbie-here.html
But i'm wanting to utilize the stock volume knob to control the .. volume
Rather than try to use a USB to gameport adapter and wire in the knob to that, i'm going to try using one of these: http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...id/0/SFV/30046
My question is.. As the PC in in the boot, and the knob is in the dash, would it be better to run an RCA cable to the front and wire in the controller up there, and then run an RCA cable back to the AMP?
Or would it be better to leave the controller in the boot near the AMP, and run 3x hookup wires from the volume knob back to the boot?
Thanks in advance.

the plan is to remove the pot from it and wire in the knob from the front...
probably should have mentioned that first
But what do you mean by separate modules?

ah, then your second idea would work.
by a second module, i mean a controller like the jl audio cl-rlc preamp/volume control-- where the preamp portion is controlled by a remote-mountable knob:

neither. the signal passes through the pot, so your either making your own extensions, or your using premade rca cables to extend it. the signal will have similar degradation from either method.
by extending the pot, you should be able to keep a smaller wire, which will make it easier to install, but that is about it..
btw, i run 4 of the rlc's in my car![]()

i think the CL-RLC does more than i want it to? line driver = in line AMP?? i just want to attenuate the volume remotely with my stock knob.. correct? (still learning what i need to as i need to..)
Or would using one of these be better? even though it looks harder to hook up..
Edit: hrmm JL Audio CL-RLC not available here in Aus anyway..
Will need to find similar or just try a cheapy.. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA3078

is this little device a descent alternative to go from the mini headphone jacks of the pc onboard sound card and output it to an amp? and provide volume control?
