Best way to wire new subs to amp

Hello all

I have just been given two 12" Mutant 250w 4ohm subs (without casings, but that's a job for another day). I have got a Fusion 600w amp, I don't have the model number to hand as the car is away for insurance repairs at the moment but it's a Fusion 600w 2 channel 2ohm MOSFET bridgeable amp, fairly common model I think, looks like this: http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...SDC10203-1.jpg

My current setup is using a single West Coast Customs 10" 500w 4ohm sub in bridged mode on the Fusion amp and it sounds great, very punchy bass, but this thing takes up most of the boot space in my 07 Suzuki Swift. I would like to replace the West Coast sub with the two Mutant ones to save space, what is the best way to wire them up, series or parallel? Ohms confuse me and the amount of guides and calculators and everything I have seen just confuse me even more so I am unsure. I realise the amp is significantly more powerful than the subs that will be connected but I can always adjust the levels to compensate and I don't thrash my systems.

Any advice appreciated.

the box that a sub is installed in will make or break the quality of the sound-- 12" subs require about 2x's the air space that a 10" sub uses, and you want to replace a single 10 with 2-12's? if your worried about trunk space now, you won't have a trunk to worry about after installing those new subs..

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. The speaker box for 2x 12's will be 3-4 times the size of your 10" box, unless you are already using an oversized box. You will almost definitely have no trunk, as soundman98 stated, if you switch to those new subs.

I'll try a few ideas for the box, maybe removing the spare wheel and using the space. Considering making a raised floor, that way I would still have a fair amount of usable space should I need it, something along the lines of this (hope linking to another forum is allowed for the purposes of showing these images, in a hurry and don't have time to check the rules right now).

Assuming I had a suitable cab made up, how would you recommend I do the wiring? I have been running them in parallel today and found that the amp trips into protection mode occasionally so I guess it's not up to the job, will try series tomorrow and see how well it runs. I also thought about running dual channel today instead of bridged which I assume would probably be most suitable, don't know why I hadn't thought about it before will give that a go too.

To add to the details posted earlier, the amp is a Fusion FE402.

i just run a single 4ohm voice coil. best of both worlds.
