So to get TA set completely correct you should use a mic, but you can use physical measurements to get really close with it too. I'm still learning how to do all the tuning to go with how powerful the MiniDSP but I do have a good measurement mic and USB mic input to use.

I was like you for the longest time where I never thought going active was that big of a deal. I read on some audio forums long enough until I was convinced to finally try it and now I'm sold for life. I was happy with my component set with a passive crossover network before I made the switch, but now I couldn't go back.

They are a company that runs things straight out of HongKong, but every time I've spoken to someone it's been perfect English. In all the notes and manuals I've read through there wasn't any soldering required, it was all done with jumpers and connectors on pins.
Computer is in the car, but in a very "raw" install right now.

Yeah, looking at the app note again,

They have removed pins from the plugs on one of the MiniDSP's. There are photos at the end, but I'm a little confused. The pictures may show an old rev board, the plugs face out and are male. From the pictures on the site of the MiniDSP, it looks like the plugs point up and are female. I wonder if they just have a custom cable. That's another thing, I have not seen any cables available in their accessories.

When I bought my 2x8 with Digi-FP card it came with the cable to jumper the two boards. I would ask but it wouldn't surprise me if they just include it in the purchase if you order it all together.

There are multiple revisions of the 2x4 kits, so you might be right about the pictures.
