Thread: USB DAC to multiple amplifiers. How do I?

    Thank you everyone for your advice and input. Durwood, glad to see you're still on here as well. The Y splitter i dont believe would work for me in this set up as it will have to half it's signal strength down each pipe and then i would have to amplify a weaker signal which raises the noise floor and allows for more interference in an already noisy environment. If it was a 7-10w signal, I would probably try it.

    As for the OTG-Y cable that redheadedrod mentioned, that's exactly how im going to power the unit. I have the 2013 model, which has some issues when both a USB device is attached and you try to charge it at the same time...even with the custom ElementalX kernel that is supposed to work. If I had purchased the 2012 Nexus 7, it's much more friendly to charging at playing at the same time. I hope that someone makes it as easy as the 2012 version for this.

    That is not what happens with a y-splitter and audio signals in this case. An RCA cable has minimal resistance way less that 1 ohm. The output impedance of the DAC and the input impedance of the amp are kilo-ohms, hence no noticeable signal loss. Headphones are a different story, as their impedance is much lower.
