    Unbalanced to balanced converter needed

I am in desperate need to feed audio from tablet/phone/etc, which is unbalanced as far as I know, to an amplifier that takes balanced differential signal.
I ordered JL CL-RLC (click for info), but came to sad realization that it might be exactly the opposite of what I need.

Looking at some professional audio forums I found only professional grade converters that are not only bulky but require 120AC.

check the last page of my project.

Burr Brown makes a chip that does it.

Analog Device makes a chip that goes the other way

    Thank you for the link.

Here is what might seem a dumb question. What happens if unbalanced signal is sent to balanced input?
I understand that with balanced signals, the are two signal wires (+/-) which are then differentiated to avoid any kind of noise.
Since with unbalanced signals, there is only voltage on one wire, how does amplifier process it?
